Help With Planning

I wanted to attach my new planning to see if I am doing it correctly. I know everyone has different ways but it was a general feel from you I wanted ie: its fine! or your missing this out! The planning is for this week. I am really struggling with the Adult Focused Learning. This is an idea of what we do each week. All staff have post-it notes which they write on daily. We take nearly 200 photos weekly which go into the childrens profile books and also into a Home/Nursery diary - this goes home weekly. The parents get to look at the profile books each term at parents evening. We also do 2 detailed observations for each child termly. I have a meeting every Thursda…

sorry i know planning is a big issue with EYFS. Ive just started a PGCE and we had a (very short) session on planning in foundation. we were given a theme (which would come from med term planning), asked to come up with loads of activities, and then say which area of the room they would go in. e.g. writing area, sand etc Then at the end of the session the tutor said 'then at the end of all this you would look at the children and see how you could fit them into what you are planning' (or something like that) Now, to me this felt wrong.....to be doing a theme in this way anyway, and to then fit the children into what i (or team) wanted to do activity wise! …

Hi All!! The nursery that I work in is having the training for the new 'Learning Diaries/Scrapbooks' tonight. Just wondering if anyone out there has had theirs yet and would like to share with me what was covered briefly.....is it simply a case of sitting and listening or anyway I can prepare for it? Planning (again) For Eyfs

I have looked on the forum but I can't find an answer exactly to this, so I hope you can help. For our adult led activities we use a planning format similar to one on the EYFS CD, and state which Early Learning Goals we are evaluating against in that activity. The children who attend are aged from 2 years to 4 years 11 months, and plans are different for the 2 and 3 year olds, than for the 3 and 4 year olds. We use a coding system which shows if the child achieved the ELG independently, with adult assistance or not at all/did not want to join in. However when we use certain ELGs especially, we do not anticipate that the child will achieve in the same way as a 4 or 5 y…

Focussed Observations

I am wondering how everyone records their written observations. As we are now using redesigned forms I am thinking we have made a mistake! Although it includes all the necessary bits & bobs (context/parents feedback next steps etc.) there is no indication of the area of development we are focussing on. I realise that the observation will cover many of the areas but when we plan we have a focussed area for observation each week rotating through them all. Once an observation is written it would then be placed in a booklet and cross referenced with dates etc. against the relevant strands of the ELG's. I wonder now if the area of focus is not stated on…

We have just started planning from children's interests and I am finding it strange although I'm sure it'll become easier. Last week we observed that the children had a real fascination with the mobile phones we had in the home corner. They especially love the ones that flip open! Trying to think of ideas for activities we can do linked to this interest!! Any ideas anyone?? Cath
