this may seem like a stupid thing to be asking. but i am new to nursery and was a little unsure of the sort of things i should be putting in my creative zone and in my clever fingers zone?? its the start of a new year and it is currently my induction period so i know i have to put things out that are easily accessable. i know i should probably know the answer to this...and when you tell me some ideas they are all probably things i am doing anyway!! but, would still feel better knowing what other people do?!? many thanks x

Hi all I have just had a visit from my regional early years consultant and she has more or less said that we dont need to use a medium term plan anymore but I dont really understand how we decide which areas of learning we are going cover. I know that our weekley plan is meant to be child led and based on their needs but I feel that we still need a base to work from. We usually have a weekly target which is aimed at the children as a whole as well as their individual aims but should i still be planning for these or should it be completely child led. We tried to have a brainstorm today with the children to find out what they would like to learn but the responses weren;t e…

my nursery nurse came up with a lovely idea to ensure we reflect a varirty of cultures in our room and planning as this is something we arent really doing, apart form the odd resource. she suggested we focus on a letter each week/month and use something from different cultures beginning with that letter to discuss, either cirlce time or interest table- cant think of egs at the min but mayb different types of animals, clothing, food etc. when she explained i was up for it as i thought she wanted the focus to be on learning about other cultures but as shes putiing it together it seems to be more focused on the letter- so far no work with children has been done but …

Learning Journey Scrapbooks

Hi there, Having just started as manager of a pre-school which has no preparation in place for the Eyfs, I now feel from reading through the forum that I have my head around what I need to do. I want to record everything in a scrapbook, adding photo's/obs/comments from child/parents etc. My question is, what are you physically using for this, ie ring binders, papers loose in a file, a blank book that you stick things on pages? And also, where did you buy what you use? Hope you can help, i'm sure I'm making this more difficult than it needs be!

Also I would like a tracking sheet for each child on their development (not to use as a tick chart). I know there has been a post where some one has already done this could anyone tell me what this was under.
