Hello! I've been doing my Long Term Planning for my nursery class in September, and I just wanted to run it by some of you more experienced folks to see if you thought it was the right idea. Ive done a plan for each area of provision, Creative, construction etc... and put the relevant early learning goals from each area of learning. Does this sound right? Basically, in the EYFS there are Early Learning Goals in bold, and other objectives not in bold. Am I just putting Early Learning goals, or choosing from any of these? Just another question while I'm having a panic... on the EYFS assessment scales, is there a specific point that children should have rea…

Well I have spent several hours looking at forums, resources etc., and my head is in a spin. I have taught Year 1/2 for the past 4 years and now I'm moving to Nursery which I'm very excited about. I usually spend most of my summer holiday planning and resourcing for my Year 1/2 class and now it's just a week to go until I start my new class and I have done NOTHING! Where should I start? Should I try to plan for the whole year as I normally do for my class? How do I improve the layout of my classroom? How many observations should I do each week? What will my nursery nurse do each day? How do I settle the children in? Please help I'm in such a panic (but still very exc…

Does anyone have any examples of their class timetables for a reception class? We are trying to get our heads around the new EYFS and would like other professionals advice and guidance in creating an appropraite timetable.

I've been looking through last tearms planning and have found that we repeat the same activities in the sand and the water regularly, I was wondering if any body has any suggestions on how to make the areas more exciting. We did back in July create a beach in doors which I have to say was fantastic (indoors because of the rubbish weather). we also do all the usual things, buckets animals pouring diggers etc, I would really like to hear how you all make these areas exciting for your little ones so I can steal some of your ideas LOL thanks for reading

As the general thing seems to be no medium term plan can I ask how you are planning to cover the stepping stones? Or will this just be done by the children accessing/selecting resources within the continious provision? We have been advised to set up workshop areas/ continious provision, do you plan activities to put in these areas, to cover each area of learning each week or day?,ie in water tray add funnels, link with a maths intenion or again are you letting the children add resources that they require observe and then link to learning? Bit confused on if we are putting lots of toys/resources in each area for them to self select where does the adult planning part…

Help please ok i am getting my head aroung planning and observing individual children there has been some fantastic ideas on this site and i think we are on the right lines. My question is what do you do for the group as a whole. Do you follow a set plan of covering different elg's for instance during cirlcle time or a planned activity. If so how do you then record your obs and transfer to each individual record. I'm thinking during a circle time maths activity you see how many children can recognise any numbers do you do this with everyone or just the individual chiild you are focusing on that week. sorry to ramble hope this makes sense to someone. ang…

Hi there, I am currently teachign a mixed aged reception / year one class, as of september I have secured another position as a nursery teacher. Very excited but just wondered really what planning people use and how much and how often in terms of focused activites. I will pretty much set my class up as I do now with areas of proviison and using continuous provision but just wondering how many focused activities per week people do and how much and how often you put pieces of work / evidence in profiles? I will do incidental obs, whole ch obs for 20 mins ( one per child per term???) Support would be welcome to get me started thanks

Hi - well the reality of the end of the holidays drawing near is finally hitting me and i have been taking the time to read all the interesting and informative posts on here about how people are going to address and implemenet the requirments of the EYFS from Sept. Having done this i think i have got my head around the observation informing planning aspects etc but am now trying to put together a timetable for reception in my setting (3 form entry - open plan - so working as a unit ratehr than separate classes). I would be really grateful if anybody would be willing to share their weekly 'timetable' for Autumn 1 with me to help and guide me before my head explodes (slight…
