Hi Just a quick question Does anyone get time out of their room to do paperwork? If yes, how long do you get. At current we are required to do all paperwork in the room while looking after the children too. Some staff recently attended traininga round the EYFS and they said that we should get time out of the room to do paperwork such as planning, observations etc

hi Our Reception children are busy painting easter cards at the moment and we're noticing that they are struggling to paint from observation - they don't seem to be able to position things on paper e.g. if painting flowers, they can't see that the heads are at the top of the stems - we're putting real objects in front of them and demonstrating etc. I'm just having a bit of a think about the new framework and creativity - do you think teaching them to draw and paint from observation is stifling their creativity? Before i launch into a big teach on it all I just thought I'd seek other people's opinions? My gut feeling is they can only apply skills after they've been init…

by Guest- 1 reply

Hello everybody, I need a little help. Does anybody have an example of the layout of their weekly plan for nursery? I currently do a daily plan but Ive been advised to change it to a daily to make it simpler and lessen the amount of paper work. Examples would be very much appreciated. x

As above - just wondering how many assessed focussed activities other Nursery teachers do each day? At the moment one adult does a focus activity whilst the other keeps their 'head up' (only 2 members of staff). One new focus each day and we try to get all children to take part in activity. Not sure if it really works or would it be better to have one focus a week with a different group each day or just lessen the focussed activities each week. One inside one outside?? Arghhh don't know need some advice!! xx

I currently teach a Nursery class in an independent prep school. I am not a qualified teacher however I have a degree in Drama and Education. I really want to do a PGCE however, I can't afford it at the moment. Has anyone heard of an EYFS-Early Years Professional Status. I need some advice on whether or not this would be a good route for me at the moment..... x
