attached is my LTP, it includes timetable for areas and aspects I plan to cover over the year, the end column shows events / festivals and blank rows are filled in retrospectively with childrens own themes of play as children show their interests. The childrens interests can easily incorporate the planned aspects. for example if children begin to play pirates in week 6 (maths) We will incorporate numbers, counting and calculating in their play. ie: number / counting songs related to pirates, calculating how many pirates can fit into the pirate ship at one time, is there room for any more?. etc. We record other curriculum areas of learning that the children show in …

Sensory Exploration

I've been pondering what kind of activities we could make available for our youngest 2 year olds (we are a sessional setting for 2-5 year olds). Observation has shown that particularly the boys are really enjoying sensory and tactile activities and objects. Without spending lots of money which we haven't got, have you any tried and tested things we might be able to do with them? I might have a go at sand mousse for one of them who really enjoys the feeling of sand running through his fingers. We have rice sometimes and wheat, corn etc. No doubt you lot will have plenty of new and stimulating ideas!!!

(dont want to ruin the fence or spend hours trying to scrub it off!) we are in a village hall dont want to upset the commitee but thought it we be a different thing to do. maybe someone could suggest a different adhesive

Development Links To B23 And Elgs

Hi During my DPP unit on planning I became very confused about the links between birth to three, development and early learning goals so I made up this sheet to make it easier to understand. I showed it to one of my friends at college and she asked for a copy as she also found it useful. Then someone else asked for a copy and it ended up being passed around the group. They all seemed to find it helpful in making sense of the links between areas so I thought I'd post it here in case it may be of use or interest to anyone else. We had a lovely little circus on the field behind our nursery this week. No animals just performers. We are a sessional pre-school with 2 - 5 year olds and follow a child-initiated approach. I have been trying to think of ways to stimulate and extend their learning throughe a circus theme but no doubt you lot can come up with loads more! Thought I might put out the parachute for them to try and make a big top. squashy balls for juggling Paper plates to stick on straws for plate spinning face painting balancing activities stilts (skip the knife throwing but I bet someone has a go!!!) Clowns Skipping Hoops Gym skills Rope tricks/ropes Big gym ball Dance/fla…
