Record Of Transfer
by Guest- 15 replies

In Kent, pre schools complete a record of transfer which is given to the parents when their child moves onto school and also sent to the teacher of their new school. This summarises which level stepping stone the pre school practitioner feels the child is operating at along with a brief comment about their achivement in each area of learning and a suggetsion for the 'next step'. Do any other areas have a similiar record and if so do you moderate these at all- and more importantly- how??

What other "subjects" do nurseries cover over and above the 6 AOL? I know some offer French/spanish etc...

I understand the observaions informing planning ibut am finding it quite hard to put into practise We have 50 odd children full day care can anyone share how they observe and put into planning? Do you have x amount of target children each sessions ie am and pm - what are you observing a particular learning outcome? If so how do you decide what stepping stone to observe,is this taken from your long/medium term plan? We used to split elgs over 2 years and then do a medium termplan from this and would observe all children in the area of learning for that month/term and then adhoc observations every day. Do you have an observation ticksheet with all children l…

I know this subject has been covered many times, but i would be so grateful for advice here We have decided to take away some of the resources, as suggested in a topic recently reagrding the children trashing the toys and basically don't know where to start! How do you structure your preschool day? If you have workshop bays available for the children to freely move between, how many focus activities in how many workshops do you have per session? Are the focus activities adult or child initiated? If one adult is running the focus how do the rest of the staff manage the room. I am thinking that i need each workshop set up with the general resource…

Hi Wanted to share a find. I stumbled across www.stompers.co.uk and it has some fantastic equipment for really reasonable prices on its website. I rang yesterday and order a face cube - fantastic for emotions work and a story board plus two circle time bags and they arrived this morning. They are great quality and I'm sure will be a valuable resource within my setting. If you havent already, check it out. Nicola x

Fsp In Private Nursery
by Guest- 5 replies

Hi everyone, I have just finished my teaching degree and have been working in a private nursery in the pre-school room since April of this year. Some of you may know me, as I have previously posted a question about undertaking my NQT year in a private nursery. Anyway....just wondering for you people that work in private day nurseries, is it compulsory to use the Foundation Stage Profiles in the pre-school room? as for some reason, we haven't been doing in my nursery and I thought it was compulsory as the children are aged 3-4. Any comments will be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Vicki x
