Eprofile As Baseline In Nursery
by Guest- 5 replies

Hi there everyone, We are about to start using the eprofile in Nursery and Reception. Our Headteacher wants us to use it for baseline as well to save us work, but as far as I can see in the Nursery year you only get to enter assessments at three points, entry, sumA and sumB. Does anyone else use the eprofile as baseline and if so how do you get round this problem? Thanks April

Hello If possible could anyone attach the planning sheets they are currently using for preschool aged children. At our recent Ofsted inspection we failed in this area due to the format being too basic, we need to ensure that development differentiation, role of the adult and evaluations are included. We have trialled so many over the past couple of months and are yet to find anything that has worked well. I would be most grateful for any tips and advice you all could give me, i'm starting to feel a bit useless at all of this!! Many thanks in advance

School Takes No Notice Of Our Folders 1 2
by Guest- 31 replies

One of my employees children starts school next year and has been visiting her new school. My colleague asked the new teacher if she wanted to see her folder from pre-school and her reply was that they would read through them but they do their own observations from scratch and so would not be used as a basis for their assessment. Another teacher form school came to see our Nativity and I asked her the same question and she gave the same answer - so my question is what is the point in going through all of this paperwork and making all of these observations on children if the schools are not taking any notice of them anyway is it all just so we can receive our funding? it…

Observations

This has probably been covered before but am feeling too tired to search - (just back from the Father's day visiting) Sorry for the long post and lots of questions - just had a colleague on the phone (yes it is Sunday - I couldn't believe it) and she's worried about how often observations should be done and the way they should be done without taking away the staff from the children. 1.How often do you observe your children with the Post it system? once a week? day? 2.How do you 'prove' or back this up as evidence against the stepping stones. 3.Where do you put your post its? and how do you transfer the information on them? 4. Who do you observe? key children o…

Planning Around Pasta
by Guest- 6 replies

Hi! This week as part of a topic about healthy eating we will be talking about, tasting, making and playing with pasta! Can you tell me if I can pre-cook my spaghetti tonight ready for the water table as a sensory activity?! Mondays are always so hectic as we have to get everything set up again after the weekend (part of the downside of being a sessional group in a church hall!) Also, do you put the cooked spaghetti in the table just as it is or do you add water so its all a bit sloppy? Any other good ideas? Did wonder if I dared add it to gelli baff!!
