Sorry about the confused message. A moment of madness and stress. I seem to have the hang of things now. Ive got a mixed nursery and reception class next term, with the majority of children being nursery age. Any ideas on planning?? The nursery children are only in during the mornings. Thankyou for your warm welcomes. Christina

we have 1 focus actiivty a week based on significant things we have observed the children doing the previous week. Can you help with the following; Do you plan specific adult activities covering target stepping stones/elg? Do you have a toy rota to ensure varied resources are got out, we are finding the children are playing with the same things over and over again? We used to get things such as flashcards, beebot etc out in keyworker time, but we dont do keyworker time anymore? What about covering things such as Jolly phonics, letter and number work? We target 4 children a session for observations if you do this how do you know what to observe and does one…

Can anyone help? The supervisor has changed the way the focus activities are done! We have a planning meeting tomorrow night and I only got the sheet yesterday I have to do a focus activity of 'showing awareness of symmetry'. Its completely uninspired me! I am used to choosing the areas of learning/learning intentions etc and to be given a specific has thrown my creativity out the window!!! aaahhhhhhhhh

Hi I was wondering what format you use to observe the children in your setting. I am not happy about the way in which we do this and would love to look for an easier and more informative way of collaborating this information. How often do you observe the children in your setting?

Problem Planning

Since moving to our lovely new building and being able to leave most resources out, I had expected things to be so much easier: Unfortunately this hasnt happened. We used to (in the old building) have 5 staff to 24 children, we now have 4 staff to 26 children in a smaller space (albeit much nicer space!), this staff cut and increase in children is due to having to pay a large mortgage. Last week was awful. The staff all seemed unhappy as 1 member of staff is always at the snack bar, leaving 3 staff to do the rest, such as show visitors around, change nappies, clothes and all the other 101 things that happen during a pre-school session. This is together with t…

Dear All, Attended the above training today (yes I have had a busy week, EYP introductory course, Making it Better for Boys and this plus my normal work and its only Tuesday and they say we are not dedicated) and I have to say I am very confused. Have any of you been on this and when do you think you would use it in an early years setting. I can see very few instances. I thought that this would form part of the referral process to other professionals but this does not seem to be the case. For example, if there was a referral to say a speech and language therapist then we would use this to highlight this area of concern to other professionals but this does not see…

We asked is this a daily sheet - they said no weekly. No more of an explanation its then dismissed and we go onto another issue! Does anyone use somet…

Hello All! I am fairly new to this site so apologies if this topic has been covered before but has anyone got any good ideas for the opposites day and night? I teach Nursery and am being observed in a few weeks. I am going to start by reading 'Night Monkey, Day Monkey' but need some ideas as to what I can put in the different areas in Nursery which would tie in nicely with the topic. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Sarah
