I was just wondering how pre-school playgroups plan for their children on a sessional basis. How do you plan for the 2 -3 and 3-5 years old? What is the best way of showing medium and weekly plans? I am trying to make a half-term topic plan for an interview to hopefully get the job that I want so much. I know a person who works in this type of setting but does not know what I mean, athough she says I would be well suited to the pre-school playgroups. Any help would be appriciated on this planning idea.

I am applying for a job in a pre-school playgroup setting working as a deputy pre-school leader as part of the job description I have to plan and implement pre-school activities. The children are aged between 2 and 5 years old and I thought it would be a good idea to do a half termly plan for the interview to help them understand that I know how to plan using b23 and foundation stage. I have not worked in this type of setting before, do you have any ideas on how to plan with this age group and setting? thanks in advance

Our eydcp mentor says we need to get rid of our planning and start again!!!!!!! Our plans show the following Long term plan - topics events festivals - she says we need to remove all topics Medium termplan- covers areas of learning and stepping stones we intend to cover each term- she says should now show all stepping stones and all areas of learning and we should highlight off when we have covered them We then have a weekly/daily plan- showing toys we intend to get out but we use this as a working document and change in according to the childs choices. We use it mainly as a guideline so that all the toys are used in the nursery as we found that we have so many pa…

Observation Matrix

Hello all We use the sticker (post it note) system for our observations which are then filed into each child's development folder under each area of the foundation stage. the problem is we could do with a matrix or grid where the staff can highlight which aspect and stepping stone had been observed and when, so that the staff can see gaps in the observations and then observe the relevent areas. I hope this makes sense!!! if any one has anything like this that they would be willing to share with me i would be so grateful as i am going round in circles!!!!

Hi to all the keyworkers out there Early Years Foundation Stage section 3: Progression through the Areas of Learning and Development. I am wondering if as the Birth to Three Matters is not compulsory, (and staff between 2-3 and 3-4 year olds find it difficult to step in each others roles) could we take on board the stepping stones illustrated in the document now. The flow within the stages makes sense and we would all be beating to the same drum. I would like to, maybe, get this in place for September. What do you think?

Hi all, I m new to the forum and completing a degree in childhood studies. At the moment i am currently working on an essay entitled: The benefits of play. I have to use child observations and play theorys to compare and contrast the essay. Im looking for some tips on observing children, and possible existing observations others have carried out to compare against, as i have never carried out a child observation. Also any help on a summary of the play theorys would be great. Any help you can give me with this post would be greatly appreciated.
