Hi- I am in the process of trying to improve the planning in the private preschool section of the day nursery where I work. At the moment the long term planning seems fine- monthly topics with the different aspects given coverage across the year. The weekly planning is very confusing though. The daily routine is like this: 9 -9.15 Register then whole group singing / storytime / news / circle time 9.15-9.45 Tabletop activities (games puzzles, workbooks, tracing books) 9.45-10 Snack 10-10.30 Outdoor play 10.30-11.30 3 adult directed activities one with creative focus, other maths and other literacy 11.45 Lunch Same again in afternoon. So you can see it is al…

Hi, I have just taken o9ver the nursery as part of a foundation stage unit and was wondering whether people had a set program/ development that they worked through with the children before moving on to letter formation, etc. Alot of pur children cannot hold a pencil with enough strength to form letters but are eager to join in with reception so I want to have some sort of program for them to work on alongside reception. Do others do this or do you just have writing available in areas of the classroom as well as writing/ graphics table and leave it at that? Advice will be much appreciated.

We do have activities outside but have not yet devised a planned timetable for each area of learning. Has anyone done this successfully and produced a detailed plan of how it works and wpould be willing to share it. Thankyou

Probably a silly question but how do I write an Action Plan (for ICT provision) I know what I want to do but need to make it look all nice and pretty in a sort of table format. Any suggestions very welcome as I am somewhat at the moment!!!Also wondering does anyone have individual policies for ELG's or just an overall curriuculum one???

Nursery Planning

I am starting my new job in a Nursery on the 6th of September and have planned for the first two weeks, I was wondering how other people plan, as the person who worked there before me took all her planning with her so I have nothing to go on. The planning was left to this one person so none of the other staff are really able to help me, I have looked at planning topics on the forum and these have helped but I think it's moral support and just to know I am going in the right direction before that Monday.
