Please can you advise how you all manage transporting of toys around your settings? We fully understand the need to move things around, playdough in the home corner, etc. but have had lots of problems recently with toys damaged or broken by using them in the sandpit (now clogged up with sand and no amount of drying out seems to help) or plunging battery operated toy into water. I don't want to spoil anyone's play but we can't afford to keep up with the damage occurring at present! Thank you!

Hello Our topic is wild animals and I would normally do a whole section using the Book 'Handa's Surprise'. However I only started this job at Easter (Nursery teacher for Nursery attached to a school - 50 children on roll, 25 per session) and now find out that they have already looked at Handa's Surprise whilst doing another topic before I got there. What I'm looking for is any ideas for another book to use (we have spent some time looking at Wild Animals in general, but I would now like to use a book as a guide) and some activities to go with it. I had thought I might use 'One Bear at Bedtime' as there are wild animals in there and can use lots of counting activ…

Thought my setting was jogging along very nicely. Today I had a visit from EYDO this morning. Most of our children stay all day and we find they concentrate more doing focus activities in the morning. In the afternoon children are usually all outside. She was very impressed with everything BUT she said Ofsted will not be happy if children cannot go outside whenever they want. We do cover the curriculum outside We make sure all children do go out everyday but in the morning not all at once because they are doing other things at different times. We have focus activities both in side and outside.Somethings cannot be done outside but other things are more suitable inside I kn…

Does anyone have any suggestions to re-word the following? *** is friendly and caring toward other children; however he often has difficulty sitting still during group time and, as a consequence, gets himself into a conflict when he does not appear to be aware of those around him. Your thoughts would be appreciated!

Colour recognition

I have a little boy at nursery who cannot identify colours - he has an enduring interest in Thomas the Tank Engine stories and characters and relates all colours to this; so if we are talking about 'colour' pegs for example the blue is 'Thomas', red is 'James' and green is 'Percy' etc. He is 44m. Any thoughts?

Hi i writing hoping for some advice. We have a child (just turned 3) with us who has very limited speech, and is under S/L, who commented today to mum they have seen some improvement since his last appt. The previous appt was noted there was minimal improvement, so that's a huge positive for mum. There are some behaviour issues where the child will not always listen, often runs around crazy (mums words although I'm sure she worries far too much when around the school doing pick ups for older children) but she is really struggling with his behaviour at home. She dropped off in tears this morning and made a hasty retreat but emailed me later on asking for a meeting to h…
