Hi everyone. I was thinking today in preparation for my parent meetings, that every year there are some observation files that are a bit fuller than others. There are some children who I maybe haven't gotten to spend as much time with as I would like because there are others in the group who demand more time. And when I am writing my evaluations of my weekly planning, I am trying to make sure I am getting involved in the play so I can do this, while also writing up observations. I try to make sure I make time for everyone but at the minute it's done in a bit of an ad hoc type way. I don't think I have a good system for observations and assessments and evaluations of pla…

Hi I was wondering if anyone had an evaluation sheet/form for activities, they were willing to share. Need to find one for my staff to use. Did have one when I was a supervisor, but that was a long time ago.... Many thanks!

Ideas wanted please. We are having a real challenge from a group of boys who are often saying "Girls can't play this", "This is for boys only", "Girls can't play Lego" and today it became "Let's shoot the girls". We have tried to tackle this with talking to them, stories, e.g. "This is our House", trying to change their play by joining in but I have never seen this attitude so entrenched in boys so young. They all have sisters, and parents tell me this isn't coming from home. But it must be coming from somewhere. We thought we did well as a setting to challenge gender stereotypes but this is something else. HELP.

Hello I am in the process of updating my Cohort progress tracking. I'm using the Points Progress for each of my groups to assess how much progress is being made from term to term. How many points progress would be considered appropriate? Also, am I right in thinking that every area should be assessed every half term? I'm concerned at the percentage showing 'not assessed'. Any advice much appreciated

I just need some guidance on how planning is done and also how to cut out the paper work so I can do less! As I feel like I’m doing too much as I’ve done that much for the 3’s.5 adult led a week and continuous provision which Is changed everyday & child interest is included in as well as well as themes!🤷🏻♀️Then we have 5 - 8 mins of key worker time as well everyday with our own groups. Is there anything that you could share with me - ie ur planning format that I could share with my team, or any other suggestions. Sorry, for a long w…

Hi all, I'm interested in planning in the moment and have ordered Anna Ephgraves book. I've been reading through some old posts on here too. We have always written down next steps for children in the past, but with the new planning i'm thinking that we won't need to as we (hopefully) are doing the next steps as we go along and recording what we have done each day. Is there any one else who does not record next steps? There is nothing in the statutory framework that says we have to record next steps but I feel as though I have read it some where, maybe it's just embedded in my head for no other reason than "that's how we've always done it" Do you think Of…

Hi there please could someone add a link (I think there is one somewhere) to where either on here or on the Surrey website I will find paper resources such as poppy sheets, trackers and summary assessment sheets and the like. I am going around in circles trying to find them. Many thanks.

Hi, Was just wondering if those of you who don't follow half termly topics do you just follow interests as they arise with individuals or groups or do you do mini topics based on a particular interest within your cohort that you would introduce to all the children? Thanks Green hippo x

I am a nursery teacher in a large primary school and for the last week of this half term we are doing an I wonder week about Black History. I'm not sure how to tackle this with a class of very active boys.
