Does everyone have the same planning across their settings or is it different per room. Our 2-3 yr room and 3-5 room have different planning systems. I'm not sure either system is affective I just wanted to know what others did.

CCTV in nursery

Hi, I am thinking of installing CCTV throughout the building in my nursery, for both security reasons and to help overcome any issues relating to staff, parents complaining etc. Just wondering if anyone can share their CCTV policy with me? Do I need to ask parents views prior to installing the CCTV or can I just inform them that we are installing CCTV? The images will only be used for the nursery's purpose and parents will not have access to them remotely. Thank you

Hi Please could I ask how you plan for your week? I am struggling with the format we use as its becoming so ridged. Would anyone be able to share examples of explain how they do it. I'm trying to find the balance between what we deliver to children and what/how we support children's needs in such a busy session without children being factory processed. Any help gratefully received.

Deconstruction

I know there has been a thread on here before, but a search doesn't show up. Does anyone have any ideas for suitable items to 'de-construct' - so far I have a broken footpump; what else might be successful? I see to remember there is another name for this activity, but still in holiday mode, so brain not working! Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Hi. I'm new to FS1. I moved in September from KS1. It's been a steep learning curve but I'm loving it. Getting to grips with the EYFS profile has been one of my biggest jobs & I often struggle understanding what is actually meant by some of the statements and what that would actually look like in a child. I work with 2 great Nursery Nurses. We all tend to have different opinions of what some statements mean. We are in desperate need of some moderation as a Key Stage but as always time is short in school. I think some of us are too harsh and others ticking off statements too easily (i'm the highlighter happy one of the team). To cut a long story short could someo…

Although most of you are probably enjoying the Good Friday I am currently wading through ILP's! Can anyone inspire me on a fun activity to: "seperate a group of 3 or 4 objects recognising the total is the same"? Bearing in mind that if you were to sit down at a 'tea party' in our setting and share out playdoh cakes, They would be scrunched up and turned into something else in a flash!! - its those Two's again!....

It's report time again and I am stuck on how to phrase the following ... X is confident to share her feelings and can become quite indignant when she feels that something is 'wrong' or unacceptable and will readily try to put things right. She's a lovely little girl, so full of confidence and always ready to 'fight the good fight' - she will stand up for others if she believes they are being treated unfairly and she is so funny when she gets on her high horse; she will stand with her hands on her hips or finger pointing at the person or thing that she feels is wrong, often saying "Yeah, but ..." or "That's not right!" When I had to rearrange my PE slot because th…

One of the areas I'm focussing on at the moment is our planning - I've got a new planning wall that shows our half term plans, key person groups and the next steps, snack list, info for parents etc.... but we have been picked up by our LA consultant that we need to demonstrate more differentiation as we are a 2-5s open plan playgroup. Our planning is very basic and used mainly as a prompt for those setting up the provision at the start of the week and a guide for any craft or focus activities we choose to do. A lot of it is spontaneous and led by the children so I'm struggling to see how differentiation can be planned for! We obviously know our key children well and can…

Ok we have a music area, it's got a lovely wicker basket with instruments. We have a table for it currently we used to have it on floor on a rug, I've added CD player, frozen masks with cd, varied the instruments, steel drum every so often..... But it is the most unused area, I observe every area and if it's not been used much why? What do we need to do? But after changing things quite a few times I'm getting a little lost in finding inspiration!!! Any ideas??? We are pack a way, I was wondering wether to do away with the area and do an instrument wall thing outside x
