I'm a curriculum lead and wanting to check our baby room is offering the required provision. Can someone please tell me if under 2's need planning? What should it look like? How much time should they get outside etc? I'm much more familiar with pre school so although these seem like basic questions I want to be clear. Thank you!

Hi, We are up-grading our Tracking system for our Day Nursery, but are a bit stuck on the format. We want to use Excel so we can produce relevant graphs and charts. Has anyone got any templates that we could look at for some ideas. It has to be simple to use as we are not brilliant with the computers. Thank you Nifty Fifty

Hi there. Does anyone know of any good discussion books for 4 year olds around the topic of making friends, social empathy, social situations 'what would you do in this situation' type of thing, e.g. Jimmy wouldn't let John have a turn with his car...what could John do, or John fell over and hurt himself, what could Jimmy do...something broadly speaking like that. I've been searching on the internet but I've only come across teenage type books. Anyone used anything like this? Thanks in anticipation HD

Hi everyone, I've just joined, so apologies if I have put this in the wrong place or if it has already been covered - I did a quick search but couldn't find anything. Anyway, my problem is this: I have one nursery class (Northern Ireland) of 26 children aged 3-4, and one nursery assistant. When we tidy up I put on a tidy up song as a cue to start (I also verbally remind them beforehand that it will be happening soon). When we start, some children tidy and quite a few others start to run about the room and get quite 'hyper'. I realise the music is very jolly, and I have tried different tempos, or not putting music on at all and using a shaker for instance, but i…

Afternoon All, I just wondered how often you guys send progress reports to parents (of all age groups)...currently at my setting children are 'key-child' of the week once per term... a report is written by the key-person for the parent(s) detailing age stage in each of the 7 areas (the 3 prime areas only for under two's) and goals are set (between 3 - 6). I have found that as time has gone on parents are less and less interested and it seems more work for the key-person. Just wondering how often other settings give parents a report and if you would mind sharing (I have attached my sample if anyone wants - which I adapted from one I found on here a while a…

We have a little boy in our setting that is obsessed with a toy wheelbarrow. He chooses it everyday, if he cannot find it he will ask an adult for it. He puts things in it, usually his toy George pig or other items he finds on his travels. How can i extend this?

What format do you all use for reporting each child’s individual progress to parents?? We have used ‘my unique story ‘ for a few years (tweaking along the way) but we are thinking we are doing more that we need to. Can anyone advise? Thanks

Hi Has anyone who's done the training drawn up a policy. We are starting to prepare one, and would be grateful if anyone is willing to share theirs. Promise not to just copy and paste but would love some ideas of what others have included. Many thanks.
