Hi all, I am finding it really hard to get my staff to fill in the planning sheets each week on a day to day basis. At the moment they are asked to fill in what activity they have done, who with, where and weather it was child initiated or planned. Has anyone got a good system that they use to help their staff to complete plans and to put in place their children's next steps. Any suggestions are most are most welcome, just want to get this planning sorted once and for all ?

we are wanting to change or adapt our planning, at the moment we do a spider diagram with blue for child led activities and black for adult led activities, but the staff are running out of room for when they extend activities and add this to the planning so it looks a bit conjested with all the writing. looking for other ideas or how other people plan and record how they extended activities? thanks

Hi I love using this site so I though I would ask for some advice. I currently work in a reception class and am going for a interview for nursery class. I have chose to do an activity with 5 currant buns where we then go off to our own playdough bakery (i only have 6 children). I just want to make sure I have pitched it at the right level. These are the development matters I have started with. Is this where your nursery aged children are at this time of year or too easy? Knows that numbers identify how many objects are in a set (30-50 months). Recognise some numerals of personal significance (40-60 months). Recognises numerals 1 to 5 (40…

Hi, in my setting we are required to support children with phonics twice a week. the children range from 3 to 4ish. i have taken the children on listening walks which they have enjoyed but am a bit confused about where to go next. I would like to do some activities that will not go right over their heads, can you help? I tried doing a dressing up bag activity, where the children could make the sound of the object that came out of the bag, but this seemed a bit much for them, any idea's ?

Has anyone got a list of talking prompts for children when they are beginning to form letters ? eg start at the top, all the way round, up, down....etc??? I feel I need some better ideas and I want us all to say the same thing when we are embedding letter formation.

Hi all, am just wondering whether all you clever people have any really good ideas for science investigation/ experiments that are fun and safe for 2 and 3 year olds. Am sure have seen a 'volcano' made with bicarbonate of soda and vinegar which would like to try next week and it's has got me thinking am sure there must be other simple kitchen cupboard science activities. ( Reason I am thinking along these lines is becauseI have been planning for a child who was really into rockets and thought the volcano might be an additional thing of interest as it has a propulsion/gases feel .... plus it's explosive and messy which is always a good thing! Any ideas gratefully receiv…
