As we are looking into new planning ideas I seem to be coming across settings that have pre planned topics/themes/interests for each term , perhaps called medium term planning. With all the changes perhaps I missed something but I was under the impression that for the last few years at least, themes/topics were discouraged as they arent ( although maybe ) child initiated enough ??? Any one use them in planning currently and have Ofsted commented on them ??

Hi I have some children who are really not developing within psed across the board. I have been asked to put interventions in place and wondered if anyone could share some ideas. I had thought of digging out all the seal resources and putting together a programme for the term? ?

Hi, I need help with our medium term plans, we do ours monthly and ussualy have one thing to work on eg sharing and plan different activities to help the child every week. Im not sure if there should be a few different things on the medium term plan, and then for the individual weekly one it should be more in depth? if anyone has any drafts they are willing to share with me, i would be very grateful as i am really stuck on what is expected. Thank you

mixed age rooms

I would be very interested to know how others feel about just or young two year olds being in the same room as children who are rising fours/fives. We are finding that since bringing the two rooms together behaviour and social and emotional development has been greatly impacted on. The staff would really like to return to baby room 0-2, tweenie room 2-3, and preschool 3-5 but have been told that Ofsted do not like to see this and prefer nurseries to have greater mixed age rooms. Surely they want to see all children having quality care and education and their individual needs met in a stage appropriate environment. Would love to know how other provisions manage this witho…

Hi, I've just started up on this site and wondered if anyone had any ideas for planning or how to feed observations into planning etc, I've recently moved to a baby unit so any ideas specific to that would be great!

I have noticed a lot of gaps in 'why things happen and how things work.' I would appreciate any ideas for activities to cover this - if they can be linked to nature and the environment then even better Thanks in advance of your fantastic help that we always get on here

Through an evalutaion form? I just dont really know where to go with this. Any ideas or advice would be fab. Thanks :-)

Hello everyone, wonder if anyone can help? I recently went for an interview for a position as an Early Years Practitioner/Teacher, the interview seemed to go very well. i have just received a call to ask me in for a second interview in which I would stay for the 3 hour stay and play session to show them how I work. I do not have to do any actual activities. My question is, should I just calmly mix in with what is going on, or should I be more direct in my approach by checking out plans etc. it is just to come in and work in the environment to show them my 'practice' not quite sure what that means, any help appreciated

Hi, Does anyone do home visits? We are thinking about it but we are unsure it we should. Do you do it for all children or just the younger ones? I would be grateful if you could share your experiences!
