I am setting up a system to track every individual child within the setting after going on a tracking children's progress course. I have been advised to list the children in key groups and indicate which bands they are working in for each area. My question is how do I decide which age band to say the child is in? I have all staffs trackers for each children, and for example, one child has half psed complete for 30-50 months and half complete for 40-60 months, so which band would I say the child was in? If the 30-50 months isn't complete do I say they are in that band until every goal is achieved even tho half of the age band above is complete? Hope that makes sense, it…

I have taken over as manager of an outstanding, traditional, morning only, pack away setting that I have worked at for a number of years. We are only small and have 5 staff and all work well together. Our planning has been ok with the big "O" but I'm not sure it will be with all the changes so am looking to update/change it but boy is it difficult to get my head around having done it one way for so long !!! Or maybe I'm trying to re invent the wheel and should leave it alone !!??!! We have good continuous provision ie library corner, role play area, craft drawers, malleable play, painting, construction area, physical area, large mat, tuff spots etc all with resources f…

Can you tell me We have continuous provision with many different workshop areas, ie construction small world , graphics, cosy area etc When adding enhancements to these area do you link to a learning intention - is this then added for the week or changed daily. How do others do this? As we have been 'introduced to a weekly planner' Monday to Friday along the top and workshop areas down the side it was suggested we record on here the enhancement but it infers we change it daily or do you think I am misunderstanding Thanks

We have been asked by our local Reception teacher to get together with her to do some moderation of our journals. This seems like a really good idea but I am not really sure how it would work. We obviously do our own version of moderation but have no experience of how it works in a school. Any advice?

Hi all Do you all have a written plan of your adult led activities such as crafts etc.? We used to do this but we found they took a long time to write up and we hardly ever followed them and prefer to just decide on the day what we will do, depending on interests etc. All the activities we do link to the eyfs in some way. We also take photos of most activities and talk about how they went at the end of the session, we just don't have written evidence of it. How do you all do it?

Despite my best efforts at searching I cannot find an example of a 2 yr check on the forum. We have a form which we were advised to use by Early Years but an Ofsted Inspector today has told me it is inadequate - I would really appreciate someone sharing what they use so I can make sure the next one we use is correct.
