Hi, I have a child who is the younger sibling of two, the eldest passed away shortly after birth. The child has only ever seen pictures of his sibling as a tiny baby and visits his grave often, he joins in celebrations for his birthday by ways of days out and see's items around the house that are his siblings. Even though he never me his sibling it is very much apart of their lives but yet as a 3 year old is somewhat confused, do you fabulous lot know of any books (has a love of books so that's helpful) that I can source to support the child in their understanding and allowance to express their thoughts. Thank you

Hi, For the first time since opening our snack bar system (7 year ago!) we are having problems with 3 children eating their way through all the fruit! They all have additional needs but no 1 to 1 support as yet. Although their is a member of staff in the vicinity in case of choking, these little lovelies manage to sneak up and take a bite! One also takes the fruit out the bin and has also bitten through the skin of a banana!! So...I'm thinking of going back to having a snack-time together, which would mean that they can't sit at a table (we'll make a circle with the chairs instead) but the children do still tend to have sit down meals with their families and all chi…

Hi all. I'm hoping someone on here has a bright idea for a simple story that looks at the issue of poverty and use of Food Banks if possible... We are collecting for the FoodBank's 'Reverse Advent Calendar' next month and I wanted to give the children (preschool) a basic understanding of where their food would be going and why. I've found a couple of American ones but they aren't shipping over here yet. Thanks in advance!!!

Hi everyone, I recently downloaded a document from here that a wonderful person had done with the phase 1 letters and sounds activities. As I've had a bit of time over the past 2 days due to knee opp, I decided to add a bit to the end! I've made a table for each Aspect of Phase 1 to show an overview of the main purpose, the activities and the look, listen and note reminders for each strand. I'm going to laminated them and use them as a quick reference to check that I'm covering all the strands in each aspect in some way. I've also added the main purpose to each activity card. Hope the person who posted these originally doesn't mind?? Green Hippo phase_1_activitie…

Hi i have been setting tapestry up for our setting. i am wanting to transfer all the children stages of development over. I have done this for one child from our current online system, I am having problems tracking them in the correct age in the summative assessment area as for example this child is emerging in birth to 11 maths area but has covered one of the statements in 8-20 through another observation (they have not secured this statement i have left it as no refinement).so on the old child's tracking it shows they are emerging in birth to 11 months, this is correct whereas on tapestry because I have put that observation on in the 8 - 20 age it is saying the child …

Right I am into cost cutting and one area that might make a difference is swapping from ready mix paints to powder paints. What do you think? And also I do remember there being a skill to mixing powder paints. What techniques work?

Hi I wondered if anyone could recommend a healthy setting scheme we could be involved in? We have real trouble with lunchboxes and felt if we have a scheme that parents could be involved in then it would take the heat out us 'preaching!' Thanks

To get a consensus amongst staff about what is expected on entry we are saying they should be: Nursery at baseline in September are 30-50 E Reception at baseline are 40-60 E We are then thinking about how many steps of progress is typical progress. However where should children who start in January and stay for 5 terms be when they start?
