Children's survey

I am currently devising a survey for the children to complete. This is a PLOD for a child who was asking the TA what her favourite TV programmes are and then 'writing' it down. So far I have come up with: Kerwhizz, Sarah & Duck, Old Jack's Boat, The Lingo Show, Team Umizoomi, Yo Gabba Gabba, Ben & Holly, Jake and The Neverland Pirates, Doc McStuffins. I am making 2 surveys to choose from so need 10 programmes - are there any others that you feel SHOULD be included? Thank you!

Can anyone help me source a particular wall display, number chart?? We currently have a poster/number line on the wall, with number 1-20 but the thing I really like is that their are photograph type pictures for 1-10 and then for eleven you have 10 apples and 1 car, for twelve you have 10 apples and 2 dogs, etc. etc. Does it sound familiar to anyone? Or does anyone know where I can buy a replacement? Many thanks MPS09

Hi I just wondered what information you use/hold to track vulnerable children?(I.e. CIN, safeguarding, together funded children) Each child's learning and development is tracked any way but wondered what Ofsted would want to see for theses groups? I.e. the progress they make, identified children. Just worried I should be doing something over and above to show identification and progress! Such as a table with children's names and what we have done to support these children? Any formants gratefully received. Thank you

Hi We are only a small group and our older children (only 4 of them) have started to show an interest in letter sounds e.g. talking about the sounds their name begins with, pointing to words and saying sounds (not correct one) I just wondered if you think it is too early to start phase 2 phonics with them after half term? Of course we would still be doing phase 1 activities with child initiated play and group times but I thought about taking these 4 children into our small room and starting to introduce phonics? What speed would you introduce the sounds? Would you introduce one sound per week starting with SATPIN? Sorry for so many questions!

Next week we will be making pumpkin soup - the best you've ever tasted! Well, I hope so as I haven't actually tested the recipe. But I thought you might like a copy and will let you know how it goes. Recipe Card - Pumpkin Soup.doc

Hi? Another 'where would you put it?' question. Where would you place completing a 9 to 16 piece jigsaw within the age and stages. I usually put it under SSM in maths 22-36 months but I'm wondering if it should really be 30-50 months as I'm thinking that it shows that they are more than 'noticing shapes and patterns?' What do you think? Green Hippo x

WANTED: Advice from nursery teachers

HELP! Please can someone advise me? I'm feeling really fed up at the moment after my performance management review last week and have been left doubting my effectiveness as a teacher. The problem is that I have not planned daily focussed assessments for some time now, in part, because they often didn't get done - there just doesn't seem to be any time to fit them in! When setting my objectives for this academic year I explained how I assess (often using PLODs and following the child's direction); my line manager was not happy about the fact that I do not do daily focused assessments in small groups - this has left me feeling that I have got it all very wrong!…

Play Plans

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum but have so far found it really useful. I am starting as supervisor in Sept at a play school and would love some advice on planning. I have come up with a play plan which is a form detailing what children enjoy doing and intended learning outcomes. What do others do to inform their planning? County have said that this document is ok as long as we keep jotting additional notes, etc onto it but then the parents have got to have an input too, I think they will get sick of looking at additions on the play plan and signing for them. Has anyone got any examples of what they do? Secondly!!! I am really bogged down with how many ch…

Before I begin the task of putting together a table/assessment tracker for the new DM's (Early Years Outcomes) I wondered if anyone has already done this and if you wouldn't mind sharing? If not I will crack on and upload here when finished. I am trying to get something we can use for our baseline in Nursery and had been watching a post which that someone else had put on about baselining in Nursery but there did not seem to be any replies. It would be good to know what systems people are using. I feel I am struggling to address the issue of baselines as I seem to be caught up comforting criers at the moment (that's the children not the staff! - although I feel I could …

I would be interetsed to know how much you all write for your transfer/summative reports. Last year, I wrote a nice chunk in each area, so the teachers would get a real 'feel' for the child.............and heard from a source in school that it was too much. This year, I wrote a couple of lines or so for each area......and guess what?? same source ( TA) tells me it was scoffed at as being too little.........I wrote to ask teacher for feedback, were reports what she needed and I have yet to receive any reply. So...........what do you do: lots, or little??
