Hi all I know this has been asked before so apologies, we are a Day Nursery where many children just access funded sessions at different times during the week. Staff are part time but recently had some staff turnover which meant 2 of my main staff could have quite a lot more contact hours which they both wanted. This has meant, more key children too. We do share observations etc, and have a second person for each child too,I am talking mainly about collation, responsibility of record keeping etc and tracking.... Want to support staff in completing records/updating etc but wondering what others do. They have around 14 children each. Do you give/get time for record keepin…

Looking at skill levels The recognition of numerals (i.e. the symbol or written number) would come within 40-60+m - the child's age probably being the first numeral he/she would recognise. So why is 'sometimes matches numeral and quantity correctly' within the 30-50m range? Have I misread this? Your comments would be appreciated! :1b

Hi all You have all on here been so amazing sharing your work and ideas and have been a great inspiration for getting started on all the things we have to change. I thought that seen as you have all shared so freely and I have finally got somewhere with what we are going to do with regard to planning pro-formas (a focus and the weekly), two year checks and summary sheets, I would share what I have in case there is someone out there that may find it useful as I did when others shared. Rather than go to each individual thread I thought I would just post in one place!!! hope it all makes sense. It isn't as in-depth as some but I think it will work for us (at lea…

Tracking Children
by Guest colechin- 1 reply

We had been given a cohort and individual trackers from our local council for our nursery children. All my staff think that the individual trackers are great as they can see at a glance on a A4 sheet the area the individual child is behind in or excelling in. I as the manager have now plotted all the individual trackers for the children onto a cohort A3 sheet. I can now see if any of the children have progressed or stayed at the same level. My advisor, has now asked me to do a summary for each child for example why they haven't moved ahead, how i'm supporting children and have I put anything special in place, any concerns and if so what and how this will be monitored. …

Hi, Earlier in the year I downloaded from the site a document which I sent out to parent/carers which was split in to the 6 areas of learning, where parent/carers could fill in their child's current interests or recent achievements. It was a lovely document which we sent out at half term and end of term. We use to get a great response back from parent/carers which the child's key worker would then build it in to their planning and also in to the child's learning journey. My problem is, I now can not find this document on my computer, plus the 6 areas are now 7 areas and was wondering if the original owner who put this document up on the site has updated it. …
