Ipad Apps

Hi everyone I know iPads are slowly making their way into nurseries and schools, and we are having them at ours. Does anyone have any good educational apps (preferably free, but open to look at ones you have to pay for) which they have used and worked well? I am looking for ones for nursery-age children really, 2-5 years old. If they link to new eyfs then even better! Thanks

Hi, how is everyone transferring each child's previous observation/development records to the new EYFS, We previously used a observation list which shows each area of learning and we put a date by the relevent month when we have an observation, but we cant just add onto that now as the areas of learning are different now. we could start a fresh but then it would seem a waste to not use all the observations you have previously made. please help. i hope this makes sense

HI all, I'm new to this site but following guidance from Norfolk County Council have signed up and can i say 'wow' and thankyou for allowing me to be part of it. We have sorted out a new style observation sheet and next steps planner, however we are struggling with what format to use for the starting point observation. If anyone has a template that they are going to be using that they would be happy to share i would be v grateful.. Many Thanks Sara

Ok so a beautiful day has passed me by while I have tried to get my head around planning! From research and reading it would seem planning for the specific experiences is key as they will strengthen the prime areas which should come naturally into any activity you do. So my medium term plan blank rough draft looks like this, I have deliberately kept it simple as my EYA is all about keeping paperwork to bare minmum but your opinions are very welcome! I think it could be workable.... famous last words?! Medium Term.doc

Plods And Next Steps

We had a visit from our Early Years Advisor recently to introduce us to a new way of recording children's next steps and progress, it should apparently reduce the amount of paper work we currently create in our learning stories. The format is this: One 20 minute observation of child initiated play each 1/2 term, develop one next step from this observation, and record it on the PLOD in the relevent area of learning. This is the next step that the child should be working towards during the next week, and should be noted in the weekly plan. When this next step is achieved it should be crossed off and a new one implemented and noted on the PLODs appropriate area of learning a…

Ok chaps have just spent this afternoon trying to formulate something that will work for our setting (Community pre-school for 2year - 5year olds based in a hall where everything has to be got out and put away each day)....so I have come up with the attached. First page relates to the areas of learning, not all of these might be filled in each week but as appropriate for the children we have in session (for example In Sept we lose all our older children to school so will be heavily focused on the prime areas for a while). Second page is our continuous provision which I have divided into two showing awareness of the activities younger children are more drawn to (mains…

Hello! I'm about to start contacting settings who have a child attending their Nursery as well as our Pre-school. Normally i send a welcome letter, introduce myself and ask for a recent progress update of the child but i very rarely get any response not matter how much chasing up i do! Does anyone have a questionnaire/pro forma they're happy to share as i'm wondering if settings would be happier to complete one of these and return it to us? Thank you in advance x
