Hello everyone I have read in various places in the forum about 'salad spinner' painting. It sounds fun and I'm always looking for new ideas. Please can someone tell me how you use the salad spinner for painting? Thanks! Beehive

Making Books Fun For Little Ones ..

I have just bought some books that have come with various stuffed animals mentioned within the story. I don't want to sound totally uncreative but to be honest I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do with them! I trialled them out on my daughter who is 17m/o, I read a story and showed her each corresponding stuffed animal and moved them around as if they were talking. She cuddled the cat the whole way through and loved the witch puppet but other than that I might as well not have bothered! Please please could someone inspire me so that I can use these beautiful resources properly, I look at them and think they're excellent but I'm just a boring old git with no imagin…

we have tried many ways of painting/printing - but would like some new ideas . the childrens favourite is tight painting - you cut a pair of cheap / used(but washed) tights in half then place resources in the foot of the tight - rice, pasta or dried peas etc into the foot of the tight - dip it into a tray of liquid paint then the children bounce the tight onto their paper - not too much paint is good as they can then see the print of rice, pasta etc what is your childrens favourite way of painting/ printing?

Baby Garden Ideas Please
by Guest- 8 replies

We have a small garden for our under 2s room which is partly patio slabs and partly grass. It has a picket fence round 3 sides so the babies can see out into the wider garden for the older children. We have the usual low sandpit, a few ride on toys and a board for chalking and painting. Of course we regularly bring out the 'indoor' toys too. We have decided we want to develop it further and I would love some ideas - preferably ones that are not too expensive. Any help greatly appreciated. Gruffalo2

Supporting Friendships

I have a little girl with me who will be 3 in May. She is finding being around other children quite challenging. Parents have raised their concerns and Although I know she's only little I feel she does need additional support from me in this area. She doesnt like other children being in her space or touching her and finds it very difficult to tolerate - although she is very tactile herself and likes to sit close to adults, touching and stroking them. She is inconsistent in her responses to children - sometimes seeming scared of them sometimes being hostile towards their attempts at being friendly - eg. shouting "NO" fiercely or pushing them away. I'm a small childminding…

I'm posting in this area because the child I have an interest about is under 3, please feel free to post in other areas if you feel that would help me to help them! The said child is a male, 3 at the end of March. So he has been in another full day care nursery (3 full days - don't know hours but did include sleep time x 2) from the age of 17 months, so well used to being away from parents, and came to us at the beginning of the year. We are sessional day care 4 mornings a week (so 4 * 3 hrs). This isn't a problem he settles well, and although he is still getting used to our new setting he doesn't seem worried, although he does seem to get tired. However …
