After staff going on a BTTM course, they were given one copy of the development record. Do you know if there is somewhere I can order copies from or do I have to photocopy them? They didn't ask about extra copies at the time. Sue J

A plea for help..... I have been contacted by a childminder who has just been inspected by Ofsted and was recommended to get a "pink, stripey leaflet with something to watch" about Birth to Three Matters. Initially we had no idea, then we thought that the inspector may have been on about the actual BTTM pack (it's kinda pink and has stripes on it, and has things to watch inside) and the childminder just hadn't shown it to the inspector. Now we have spoken to the childminder again and she says it is a new publication. Has anyone come across the new 'pink stripey leaflet' and can you direct me to it? I have searched on the SureStart site and done a 'Google' t…

I am interested to know how other settings organise children's sleeping. What I mean is, the children who sleep on rest mats. Once they are all asleep, does a member of staff stay in the room to supervise, or do you use a listening monitor or do you just check on them from time to time?

Another Planning Nightmare!

Well, the plans for the baby unit are finally in place. I spent much of the last week of last year going through them with my colleagues, making sure they knew what to do and how they worked. Got a few funny looks about some of the changes, like the introduction of codes (thanks Dawn ) but generally the response was quite positive. Today, however, I am being told that we need to be doing focus activities with the older children. They range in age from 12 months to 2 years. I am not allowed to use a specific sheet for planning these and to be honest, I'm not sure if I should be doing focus activities with the younger children anyway. I will do them though as that is…

Hi can anyone share some activity plans? We have recently opened a small baby unit and am struggling with planning, we do planning as per the childrens interests but feel we need to have some kind of plan for the week ? ie to plan for sticking, messy play music time etc? What do you think? Do you work like this in your settings? Are we on the wrong wave length we are booked on birth to three training in May next yr- good aye! no one really to support us either! The new staff have come from other nurserys they say their old nurserys had a daily routine and that was it they just sat with the babies? seems pretty boring and unexciting to me!? Any help or a…

I am wanting to buy a small ballet-style bar, to secure to the wall in the baby room, so that they can pull themselves up, and look into a mirror above. Have been able to find some small hand rails that would do the job, but wondered if there is any such product specifically for this purpose?
