Planning And Assessment 1 2 3

At last I've been given some advice on how to plan and assess for BTTM. Last week we had a planned visit from an early years co-ordinator and I managed to monopolise her time for half an hour to go through the BTTM and planning. She was actuallly happy with what I had done so far and said that I had included BTTM in my planning more than many settings were. My weekely planning on topics was fine and my daily activity sheets I designed are fine except for a few points.. I've been given the advice to break down the components and work on them over a short period of time (for how ever long is needed for all the children to achieve the objectives). Before I was planning the…

We've been recently oftsed inspected and we are in the process of introducing assessment books for each child within our care. I work with children aged 2-3 years and i wondered whether it would be possible to see some ideas as we have do clue where to start. We have just picked out the headings from the birth to three matters and listed the outcomes the children should be achieving. Has anyone got any ideas, please? Thank you Emma xXx

Toilet Fixation

Hello, I have moved jobs from supervisor of pre-school (children 3 - 4 years of age) to a pre-school within a nursery (children 2.5 - 4 years of age). I am seeking advice from people with knowledge and experience of a 2 and a half year old who is constantly in the toilet stating he needs a wee 2 minutes after he has been in. He will sit on the loo or play with the water in the sink. He will do this all day. He enjoys the whole process of washing his hands and drying them. However, there's water and paper towels everywhere. When he was in the toddler room he could not get free access to the toilet as the handle was up high for adults to open, so, I can un…

Birth To Three Matters

Hi Whilst trying to get my head around an 'easy to read' planning format for birth to three matters, which will link nicely into the Stepping Stones, I came across some helpful info on the Sure Start web site. Probably old news to all you accomplished forum members - many apologies if so. The Sure Start web pages contain each of the 4 aspects and have a brief description of their components, and you can download each component in Pdf format which gives the relative connecting stepping stones. (Hope this makes sense?!)

Birth To 3 In Pre-school Setting

Hi all, As part of the next step in my OU EYFD, I am working on inclusion. I have chosen to plan for, and observe, a small group of children (we don't do keyworking, so this is difficult). One of the children I have "selected" is aged 2 years 9 months. We have no progress records on him because "he is outside the parameters for funding". For my own benefit in my course, I need to make some sort of assessment record (my setting does not want me to use stepping stones, because "he is too young"). Is anyone using a 0-3 assessment system that I could use? Please. Diane.
