Hi everyone! Been a while since I've posted here, qualified as an EYP last June and been busy ever since! I've recently started as an EYP at a Forest School and as part of the 3 month probationary period I will be observed 3 times by the settings seniors! I will have to plan and carry out an adult-led activity so I'm just wondering if anyone had any ideas for an activity that I can undertake. I work in the toddler room (18 months-36 months) and am looking for an activity that the children will enjoy but that is also quite straightforward. I have considered making our own musical instruments, any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Rebecca

I have posted before about a child who had certain behaviours that concerned us. He joined us just over a year ago and although he has progressed, is still well behind compared with his peers. Since my initial post he has been seen by our area SENCo numerous times, by the Health Visitor at home and in our setting, by the Speech Therapist in the clinic and with us and is due for an appointment with the Paediatrician. I think we are well on the way to getting him support i.e. a Statement for when he starts school in September as the fact that he needs some help has been agreed by everyone so far. However, although his parents seem to have been on board at every…

Mindee Has Just Started To Walk

Mindee started to walk today. Don't know if she has walked at home at all but I won't mention it to mum in case she gets upset that she didn't do it with her first. Not sure if she walked at home or not as she is mostly crawling still. I guess it's about her getting her confidence more until she is walking all the time. It's taken a while to get here. She's come on leaps and bounds. When we first started with her she couldn't even sit herself up. She was 9 months then. She is 14 months now. Looks like she is catching up now.

Okie dokes, been working on this for months now and still dont have a format that were happy with can anyone PLEASE help me?? Firstly, does anyone happen to know any 'topic' based activties and ideas more suited for the under 2's? All the ideas on here are great but difficult to adapt. Secondly, do babies even need topics?? And by topics i mean interest lead topics. We're finding this very difficult as our babies dont really seem to have 'interests' as such, ok the odd one or two are facinated by trucks and some others love singing baa baa black sheep, but apart from that...its very limited. Should these interests be made into a group thing, for instance a transp…

Hi, I'm looking for some ideas if anyone would like to help I've to write an assignment analysing three five minute obervations/assessments on one child. I'm thinking of observing a little girl aged 20-22 months as i've built up a good relationship with her but i'm not sure on which would be the best activities to do with her so that I have plenty to write about each. For one i'm thinking of doing shape sorters so I can include schemas and scaffolding etc but after that i'm a bit stuck! I'm on a course so this is all fairly new to me so some help from you more experienced people would be greatly appreciated :0) Thank you x

Carpet /group Time For Under 2s

I'm looking for ideas for engaging younger children in story/song/rhyme times at the end of a session, imediately following outside time. I know that group time isn't always appropriate for very young children, but I want to make it irresistable for them, (even tho' it is quite acceptable for then to wander off if they want to.) I work as a creche co-ordinator, and one of my responsibilities is to lead a 10 minute session where the children (aged up to 4 years) have story, songs etc. It isn't usually planned in any detail, so that we can follow on from the children's interests from earlier. However, I find it very difficult to engage all the age groups - I am great at…

Hi there Just a quick question as i am in the middle of adapting our baby room planning (fun way to spend a weekend, i know!) and i really just wanted to check and see if anybody else still uses a 'long term plan'? My short term plan is ok, covering childrens needs and interests but im thinking more of a yearly plan to show what we plan to cover? I.e. November we'll be looking at shiny things and fireworks, December we'll be looking at christmas etc. Any help and advice is welcomed!
