Hi All Head is asking why our ELG scores were so different from KS1 data. Erm because the two don't correlate and the KS1 tests are crazily uplevelled were apparently not the answers he was after. Is anyone else having pressure to account for why this is the case or is it just me and my data??? Cant find anything online to say why GLD data is now being used to predict outcomes for KS1 and apparently eventually KS2! Feeling fraught. Even more so than usual! Please help if this is happening to you or even if you have any thoughts on this. Thanks loads Peace

Hello I have been teaching in EYFS for 9 years, and I am starting to doubt myself after listening to many "experts". How do you use Development Matters? I have recently been told that the number of statements in each band equates to entering, developing or secure eg if there are 10 statements in 30-50 and the child achieves 5 of them then that child is developing; if child achieves 9 then he is secure and so on. Is this right? I have never used it like this. Instead I use my judgement and a "best fit" approach. I would really welcome any advice from the real experts who work with this every day. Thank you Jane

Dear All, I am in need of some help. I feel like I have been thrown in at the deep end and am starting to sink. This is my 8th year teaching but my first in Reception (having taught Years 1 - 5). I am in an international school but without the normal money and resources that you might expect. I have a few really simple questions I need help with. 1.What does your day look like in Rec? My class are transitioning from nursery so will be in till 12:30 this week. I would love to know the breakdown of your timetable and what ideas you have for continuous provision for these first few weeks. My children have been i school (till 8-11:30) for 6 school days so f…

Trying to think of an exciting problem solving activity for the HA which would link into this. My LA will go round school looking for shapes and will take photographs of them. Thought of hiding shapes outside and making a tally chart, shaving foam shapes and shape roads. Any tried and tested ideas out there. Thank you

Hello there - wondering if anybody can help. We are introducing objective led planning this year in our school EYFS unit of 60 with a focus on developing engagement and attainment in continuous provision. We are also going to be levelling the skills in CP. Before we introduce this I want to ensure that as a team we are clear of the skills we are developing in each of the areas and also the progression in these skills. Alistair Bryce-Clegg talks about the importance of being aware of the 'pure' and 'facilitative' skills in each area before looking at the progression of these skills. I have begun to do this with help from his books and have hit a brick wall with the pure sk…

We are following Anna Ephgrave's planning in the moment planning, teaching and observation. We are looking to set up our areas across the classes. We have watched the video of her outdoor area on you tube. Now we want to know how those following this way of teaching and learning have set up their indoor environments

Hi I haven't posted or been on the forum for a while and it is good to be back. I am a struggling reception teacher who would appreciate some advice around lunch times. Currently our reception children are offered a free school meal or they can bring packed lunch. If they have school dinners they are expected to get their cutlery, carry their own tray select salad, give their name to someone they don't know, carry and put everything away at the end. We are looking for new ways to do things as every year lunch causes the children a lot of stress and upset. It is difficult for us as we want to help as much as possible but need a break ourselves. Parents are unhappy and chil…

Hi all, It has been a long time since i used this forum forgot how good it is. I am currently trying to update report forms i.e. accident, incident. I was wondering does anyone have a template for changing clothes form due to spillage, toileting etc.. as until the old manager had staff using accident form and i think it would be better to have a different one as this is not what i deem to be a accident. Please help
