Creative Arty Ideas
by Guest- 6 replies

Calling all creative people out there! I would love to hear of any fun creative art ideas that anyone has carried out successfully with Reception children, preferably with minimum adult intervention! I have got various books of ideas but find that they often require quite a lot of adult input to make anything that resembles the photo! Also can anyone recommend a really good early years art book? or website? Finally, one last request - does anyone have any ideas for things to put outside in the water tray now that it is too cold to have water? Thank you - I don't know if I have eaten too many mince pies but I am definitely lacking in inspiration at the mom…

Happy New Year everyone!!! my school has been very lucky and we have been linked to a school in Kenya for the Olympic period. I have spent time with my Foundation class talking about Kenya and showing them photos and artefacts from the school. However in the summer I am doing a half term topic on 'exploring Kenya.' I have thought and considered all the obvious things such as animal prints, models, handas surprise etc but was just wondering if anyone had any ideas they could share? or any music, stories etc!! anything would be gratefully appreciated thank you

Hi, Am following someone elses planning for phonics in reception and was a bit of unsure of what the following terms mean. " Generate and then read words using sound buttons i.e. pick, neck, duck etc" and "Revise segmenting for spelling using phoneme fingers" would really appreciate if you could help me understand this, Thanks!

Medium Term Planning Help!
by Guest- 3 replies

Hi all, I hope everyone had a good new years eve!! This is my first post in here as a pgce student! I'm looking for some help and advice on my first mtp for a reception class. Im rather confused as to the sections that have to be completed on my particular form given to me by the university. We've been given very little advice on what to put into them and its coming to the start of term and I'm in one almighty panic about what information goes where (even after a week of trying to work it out)! We have a topic that will go across the half term and each week is then divided into different mini topics but how to record this all is baffling me! Any help …

Hi all Can I pick your brains? I want to do a listening activity where children listen to a poem then draw a picture inspired by what they heard - but I am struggling to find a short and inspiring poem to appeal to boys and girls - any ideas would be gratefully received! (main objective is listening so poem can be about anything) thanks x
