Hi, everyone. I have Ofsted next week and our current theme -based on children's interest- is dinosaurs. This is the third week of this theme - but its going well. We began by finding an egg and I thought that this week we could find a footprint and a letter from the eggs parent. - with the objective to be able to say the sounds in words when reading The letter tells us of clues to find more eggs - each clue differentiated to match reading ability of child. then on the next day we will write back - be able to find and write the letter to match the sound heard in a word. Last week we did 2d shapes and so we are moving on to 3d this week - using the 'magic' id…

Hi there everyone, hope you are all enjoying your weeks break. I have at last sat down to begin next weeks planning. And last tern was wondering how i would fit teaching tricky words in our timetable along with formation of letters and numbers etc. I do daily phonics sessions using jolly phonics and it seems to be going very well, where half my class are writing cvc words now. The other half way off. When can you fit in tricky words, i have not started this yet and will be a focu for this term. Do you introduce a letter and a word in one session. We are onto letter u, b, f, ff nxt week. Would love to hear hw you are all fitting it in. xxxx

Feel very unsure did not see this coming!!!!!! Has anybody else been faced with this?

Hi, i am being observed thursday and am doing work on 3 little pigs. I'm planning a KUW activity on building houses, blowing them down with different apparatus etc but the focus of the observation is differentiation which i'm finding quite difficult to plan specifically for. Any ideas how i could pitch 3 different WILF's?!

Baseline

Hi All, I have to show baseline for all areas. PSRN and CLL are presented in MAGS but the school don't really have any other way to present remaining areas. Do you present the remaining areas as a whole eg - KUW as a whole or do your break it down into the 4 strands of KUW and have individual baseline ages. As an NQT I'm not sure and school haven't done it before so they are leaving it to us. Just wondered what others in reception do :-) Net xx

Fs/y1 Planning
by Guest- 2 replies

Hello I am sorry if this question has been asked a lot before but I am having a real problem. I have moved from FS having gone from the childrens interests and this has been super. I was asked to take on a mixed class and thought I would be able to use the children's interest and make sure I cover the needs of the year1 within the KS1 rolling plan. However, I have to follow KS1 as I have to match the y1 class which does not allow me to deviate away from the rolling plan. This is very QCA based even with Quigley in school. As I have to do this, what I am asking is if anyone has a planning format for this mix. It might help me to get round this problem and …

Would love to find a good scheme incorporating music and movement for use in Reception which can be followed / adapted. A scheme which is fun, exciting and 'up to date' is what I'm looking for but struggling to find! Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Dear All, I hope I am posting this in the right place and that someone can help me...! Last week my head challenged us in our staff meeting about our usage of digital cameras in the foundation stage and questioned the value of them and if we were even using them appropriately. We know why we should be using them (and that they are invaluable) but I am struggling to find concrete evidence to support this - can anyone help? I know I watched a video clip some time ago (following links from the standards site when the EYFS was introduced I think) about two practitioners explaining their rationale for taking photos, showing how they recorded observations in the form of…
