Hi in response to my boy heavy class who are train obsessed, I have decided to plan a transport theme after half term so I have arranged a visit to the train museum close to us and am borrowing some old toy vehicles from our museum loan service. I am going to use books like jolly postman, mr gumpy's outing, mr gumpy's boat, Oi get off our train, the naughty bus as starting points for my CLL and PSRN each week and then leading up to Christmas Jolly xmas postman and Harvey sluffenburger's christmas present. We will have most likely have a santa's workshop as our role play area and the children will be involved in sleigh design for the role play area. Now I am having a bit …

Eprofile And Evidence

Hi guys, Just in the middle of updating the profile. Our big target for improvement in FS this year is using observations to inform the profile, and my head is insistent that every point we tick off has evidence in the books/files to back it up. However, there are a few points, such as 'dresses and manages own personal hygiene' that i dont feel it necessary to write observations for. we know who has achieved it (or, more honestly those who can't!), but do we seriously need to write an observation about it? Seems like paperwork gone mad. What do others do? Xx

Observation

Hi, Im new to EYFS and working in Reception and have just had my first observation. I was outside working with a group and my points for development were for displays to be changed regularily inside and to stop children running inside. We were given a WIGT to be assessed again but only after the observation. It is 14 pages long and includes trips and key person. I only have agency support staff so have not started key worker yet. I'm very disheartened and don't know what to do next. Any help and advice would be really really appreciated! Thank you Tracy

Favourite Cll Activities?
by Guest- 4 replies

Do your children have any activities that they just really love doing independent or focused? have an ob coming up and head she wants to see 100% of the chn purposefully engaged in CLL learning OMG!!! I provide activities but they do go off task and get really silly with each other so i need to try and address this- it must be the activities that i am providing so if any of you lovely people have any great ideas i would be really grateful. We do the usual like Tuff spot and stories, chalking on the play ground floor and they like the fly swats and HFW's. Looking for some new refreshing ideas. Thought about doing Handa's surprise for the obs as our topic is plants and anim…

Hi everyone, I am getting myself in a real pickle over 'next steps' argggggg! Currently, we do a long observation of 2 of our key children per week, assess and plan next steps for in the following week. The next steps are based on the long obs plus other observations collected. However, we usually just plan 1 or 2 things for each child. So this happens 6 times per year, and also means that the children don't necessarily get a balance of 'next step' across the areas of learning. SOOOOO, I'm wondering whether we need to change our system a little bit so that we plan next steps more frequently and more balanced across the curriculum? Or do you just plan for the most imp…
