CLL ideas needed! (Minibeast topic)

Hi all We are focusing on minibeasts this half term - I love this topic, but have not done this topic for some years now in Reception. I am stuck on CLL ideas, apart from the usuals (re-tell a story and information writing). I would ideas to grip and hold the children's attention. We are focusing on a minibeast a week. We read Hungry Caterpillar this week (which they loved) and already have had some nice work from it. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Hi everyone, I have an interview for a small rural school in May, during which I have been asked to teach a 15 minute L&S session to 10 children from Reception, Year One and Year Two! To me, this sounds nigh on impossible given the vast range of skills and knowledge the children are likely to have. If anyone has any experience of teaching mixed age and phase L&S, please let me know how on earth you do it! Thank you! S. x

Hi! I'm currently using tapestry and I just want to find out what everyone else does to analysis data. I've noticed that lots of people use sims, O track and target tracker. Do I need this along side tapestry or can tapestry give the the same details? In the past I've used target tracker however since the new development matters I've not found it as effective and I'm just wondering what is the best way of showing progress and analysing the data? Thanks.

Hi all! As Easter is coming to an end, school is now back on my mind. I have an observation second week back with the head. She is looking for problem solving and my mind is blank!!! I have a mixed Nursery / Reception class and topic is minibeasts. I was thinking along the lines of focusing on the story 'Hungry Caterpillar' and using the puppet as a hook, presenting the problems but that is all I have. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance

Hi I have a lesson observation next Tues. We had an email on the last day of term so that was a GREAT start to the hols! I'm already stressing about this and it's a week away. I am starting a new topic of Jack and the Beanstalk with my mixed reception/year 1 class so I will spend most of Monday immersing the children in the story. I'm thinking story maps might be a good lesson for Tues but I'm not sure how to structure this. Any advice, ideas much appreciated. xx

We are an early years unit with two Reception classes, a canopy area and a large outdoor area. I firmly believe that the children should have continual provision to the outdoor area. We have 5 staff - 2 teachers and 3 TA's but only two out of the five of us are passionate about outdoor learning. I am responsible for sorting out duty rotas as we take turns to staff the outdoors and each person goes out every day. Any suggestions for managing the outdoor duties and inspiring the staff who are reluctant to see the value of outdoor learning? One problem is that we have very little equipment we can leave out permanently and a very large outdoor area which means stuff has to be…
