Hi I am thinking to after half term where my topic will be under the sea. I have this year been doing the storymaking talk for writing project with my children and each term have picked a repetitive story for us to learn together which has been really successful. So far we have learnt the gingerbread man, litte red hen, nat fantastic and handa's surprise. I am really struggling with a repetitive text under the sea related- tiddler would be the obvious choice but with it being a rhyming text I would have to rewrite it and it seems a shame to alter such a fab book. Has anyone any ideas? Deb

My team all contribute to Learning journals and do regular observations. I feel there are some gaps in their understanding of some of the statements. Are there any additional materials to support this, to explain and give examples etc?

Next week i'm having a 'tea' party for parents and children for the new intake and the current parents and class. We're just having some cake and cold drinks. This has the space of an hour to fill and I'm thinking I need to have some activities ready for the parents to do with their children. (If its a nice day we will have the field and lots of PE type equipment) But, if its not a nice day and we have to be inside and under our outdoor cover I'm struggling to think of things to keep them entertained that can also be done by my current class if they don't get a parent visitor. has anyone got any ideas, or done something similar? Lucie

I am trying to find some ideas and resources for next year around this topic. The Nursery teacher would work the topic with me (Reception). I tried the search engine in the forum, but I don't think I did it right. Any help, please? Thanks in advance!

after reading abc's blog i got my hands on Nick Sharatts 'what's in the witches kitchen' in order to do the PSRN cooking activity next week with my reception class. I was trying to think of a fun CLL based activity for this book too. I really want the children to have an exciting last week in reception! has anyone got any ideas or things they've already done with it? I suppose maybe we could make our own pages....don't know how to do the double flap thing tho!?! Lucie

Planning Help Needed!

I know that planning has been discussed over and over, but we had OfSTED a couple of weeks ago and one of our areas for development is to let the children make more decisions about their own learning. I have been teaching Reception for 5 years now, and have never been happy with our weekly planning but I just can't think of the best way to do it. If anyone has any suggestions, or examples of their planning that they are willing to share with me, I would REALLY appreciate it!! THANK YOU!!!! x x x

Hi, I think this has been discussed before, but I can't seem to find the thread. Has anyone got any ideas of music to accompany a slide show of photos of the work we have done during the year? It would form part of our 'Reception's Got Talent' performance to parents in a few weeks. Thanks, Carrots
