by Guest- 3 replies

Hi I am thinking about next year and I would like to fit in do plan do review sessions in my reception class. Does anyone else do this in reception and if so how do you organise it when you have 30 children and only 2 adults? do you select certain children each day? do you organise it in friendship groups or random groups? do you do it with the whole class in paired talk???? I understand the process but would appreciate some ideas on how to organise it so it is successful and becomes part of the daily routine. thanks x

Transition Morning To Reception
by Guest- 3 replies

I am planning a transition morning for my new Reception class coming up from Nursery setting in same school. I wondered whether anyone had a tried and tested plan they'd like to share as mine didn't really work last year. I want to ensure the children have enough time to explore the provision, but am concerned that we might end up with lots of mess as we won't have time to show all the chn how to access the provision in each area responsibly, I'll be doing that in Sept. I want to do a couple of very short carpet sessions, getting to know each other/name game and a song/story and/or a bit of beat baby. I'd just be interested to know what other people do that you find reall…

Hi folks, we have just this evening had our briefing about our ofsted tomorrow and Wednesday. I will be interviewed by one of the inspectors as I am Foundation Stage leader (never done this before so am bricking it!) Apparently I will have to justify why my children have only made 'satisfactory progress' because they have only moved from 30-50 months 40-60 months. I don't get it! where else could they go? am I being thick? My children have made a minimum of 4.5 points progress in every area and as much as 6 in a couple of areas. Most of our intake came in at less than point 2 on the profile so they were unlikely to achieve 8s or 9s at the end of the year although a couple…

If a child has used a variety of shapes to create excellent representational pictures and made repeating patterns using 5 colours would you use this as evidence towards this points- I always seem to have trouble collecting evidence for point 8 across the three strands of MD even though I know it will be happening all the time.

Hi all we had the dreaded phonecall that we've been anticipating for the last academic year today. They are coming on Tuesday and Wednesday next week. I think we are in a pretty good place. I've never had an inspection while in reception and wondered if those who have had one recently could fill me in on anything that they looked for particularly. Deb

Hiya, last week i summited my EYFS profile data to the council and i didn't give ceative development scale point 6 to many children as i didn't have much evidence for this point. I have been aware of this gap for a while but don't seem to beable to get the evidence i need. I had a adviser in before the data was summited and she said i couldn't give CD 7/8 until i had given a child CD6 so now my CD data looks really bad with most children only scoring 4/ 5. I also don't teach music to my class as the school has a music teacher and she doesn't really follow a EYFS approach to music. The children also don't like her either so i think it might have put them off music! I h…
