Help - Rec/year 1 Planning/classroom Organisation

Hi, hope someone can help or offer some advice. I am on maternity at the moment and when I go back in September I am getting a Rec/Year1 mixed class. I have had Rec before and love teaching EYFS and teaching from the children's interests, and never knowing what topic might come next. I feel I know what I am doing with Early Years, but can't see how to mix this with Year 1 children who have to follow the National Curriculum. Can anyone help with any ideas for planning formats - I have tried a million different formats for reception, and don't know how to cover both year groups on the same planning! Also does anyone have any continuous provision planning which covers b…

Hi Everyone, I am really struggling here!! Been researching over the week but i can't find anything to give me ideas. My head teacher is observing me on Wednesday and he has said that he wants people to come out of their comfort zone and take a risk?!?! I've said i will teach maths particularly problem solving but i am really struggling to think of any ideas. Anything that i do think of is similar to what i would normally do and not 'taking a risk'. Why do these things always seem to happen during the holidays?! Should probably have said, i'm in Reception. Thanks for any suggestions!!

Hi all!! I'm very happy to say I got a job teaching Reception class in September. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for an induction activity on our visit day from nursery - something that can be put on the wall for when the children arrive in September. Previous years have included hand prints, and self-portraits (which took too long) and I have been asked to think about something they could do. Any ideas gratefully received! Thanks all

Hi all I need some inspirational lesson ideas for an interview observation next week. I have to teach a class of Reception (not sure how many) for 25mins. It has to be a literacy based activity with a writing focus. I was thinking of doing something on the lines of pirates (message in a bottle, treasre maps or descriptions) but mind going blank. It's hard as I don't know the class or level of support. If anyone has any brilliant ideas, please post them on here! Thank you!!

The school i work in has just revamped the end of year reports. These are not appropriate for the early years so I have been searching every where for examples of foundation stage end of year reports. I have shown our head the e profile end of year reports but he doesn't like these. I am thinking of making up my own with 6 boxes for each area of learning, then additional boxes for parent/ headteacher comments. Has anyone created a better version than this which you don't mind sharing. Thanks.

Hi, could someone tell me - how much writing (as in attempting to be phonetically correct) their current MA reception are doing with limited adult direction? e.g. a simple caption/attempting a sentence/single words. - how much writing MA children are expected to do formally (i.e. sat at a table, (not all the other writing that goes on )) by this I mean how much they are expected to do in one go. - what the role of the adult is in guided writing in your classroom. I'm not sure I'm being clear about what I'm asking! (I'm not sure I even know).....Would you be so kind as to tell me about writing in your reception class! I know my class will be totally…
