Good Level Development-help?

Hi, I'm a bit concerned about GLD. I think it's worked out by a child achieving ELG's in PSED, CL, PD, L and M. What about those children that achieve in 11 out of 12 of these ELG's? Have they not achieved a good level of development? I'm a bit concerned as we are a tiny school and only had 7 in the foundation stage and so any shortcoming really shows up in our results! Thanks for your help X

Hi everyone, I've got an interview this week for a nursery teacher job. I was a nursery teacher but have been a reception teacher for three years so trying my hardest to remember where my children were up to at this point in the year. I've got to teach phonics to high ability children and was going to do oral blending. Obviously I don't know what their previous knowledge is but even if they've never done it before then I'm modelling it to them rather than asking them to do it so I'm hoping this will be fine. Any thoughts from Nursery teachers would be appreciated! Thanks T13

Hi all Can I ask which phase are the majority of your children working in when they leave reception. At the moment majority of my children are in phase 3. Some of theses will make it into phase 4 by the end if the year but I would think the majority will stay at phase 3. We seem to hit a big brick wall when we get to diagraphs and trigraphs. They recognise them as a sounds but do not read them as a digraph or trigraph in words. Any help or advice would be gratefully received. Lou

Hi everyone, I am not new to EYFS but this year in our very small school (42 children) we have introduced nursery into the EYFS/Year 1, which certainly changes the dynamics of the class. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on planning for three age groups? especially in view of child led planning and next steps Many thanks

In Reception we have formal Literacy and Mathematics books. Each week we record an activity with the learning intention and comment. Do you add a next step to every piece of work you mark? thank you

I'm the new deputy of an all age sld/pmld special school and have recently taken over the assessment of pupils in our early years. We have a hand full of pupils at this age range each year and at present they are assessed using p scales. It was my understanding that p scales weren't to be used until ks1. Is this also the case with pupils who come to us at 4 years old and already have a statement/EHCP or should we still be using the old development matters at this age? Is this advice from DfE or local authority or individual schools? I'm sorry if this topic has been discussed before. Many thanks Jodie

Hi, I was wondering if some of you lovely Reception teachers could give me a little guidance. I have my first NQT interview coming up which involves teaching a one hour session with 30 Reception children on either literacy and numeracy. I've got lots of experience in Nursery but not in Reception and feel a little unsure of how I should structure the session? Obviously the children will only be on the carpet for a short period (I was aiming for about 10/15mins) and then I'd do an adult-led activity with a small group but I'm not so sure what to do with the rest of the session (aside from a short plenary at the end). Will I be expected to plan for all the CI activities and…
