New Child Cut Off Date For Submitting Data

Hi This is my first question on this site and I'm hoping someone can help. We were moderated last month and found to be doing pretty badly and were given targets to reach before the final data collection (next Thursday). We have managed to make our percentage target by the skin of our teeth. My query is, we have had four new starters in two weeks and not one of them is going to move our average in a good way I assumed that, as they are going to physically be at our school next Thursday their data will be submitted by us but our deputy seems to think there is a cut off date e.g. x amount of days before data submission where officially we don't have to count them in …

One Point Of Entry To Reception

I teach in Suffolk and from next September we will be finally pulled into the 21st Century by having our reception children start in September for hopefully one point of entry. Our busy town school will most likely be three classes so I am looking for any ideas on organising our new classes. I am in favour of three mixed aged classes . I am in nursery at present so will know at least two thirds of the children. I would like to hear from teachers out there who already have three classes and welcome any ideas about induction in the early weeks and how the youngest children cope with fulltime school. I love the balance of CIL learning/ responsive planning and adult suppor…

Hi! First time to comment on here, but I love the Forum, so useful! I am really struggling for ideas on getting the children achieving SD 6-8 and ED scale points 6-8. Whether its a case of lack of opportunities or just not writing down things children say- they are looking like theyre not able to do what I'm sure they probably can. Particularly struggle with the 'cultural' and 'beliefs' side of things as I don't work in a very diverse area. Any ideas much appreciated Thanks!

Hi all, we are mid inspection and it's been noticed Nursery and Reception and Y1 are looking at minibeasts, does anyone have an articulated response to this, we plan together to ensure we aren't doing the same books, maths schemes etc are differentiated but I'm too tired to think.

by Guest- 8 replies

Hi everybody, I'm posting for the first time so i'm not sure if i'm doing it right...but i thought i'll have a go. I have been reading the forums before. I have a job interview on thursday 9 June 2011 and i have been asked to teach a song or rhyme to support the year 1 children's current topic on 'farms' and i have 5 minutes to present this, which i think is really tough!! I'm looking for something which the children will enjoy and have fun, doing actions etc. Also is there an objective from the foundation stage which can be linked to key stage 1, year 1 in this activity, just to make sure i am doing it right. As the school is looking for continuity from the fou…

Fingertips Assessment Tool

Heard about this at a cluster meeting today. Nobody knows much about it. Its software made by Focus Education. Apparently saves 5 hrs a week in observations and learning journeys etc! From what I gather its software that you use on a mobile device to photograph, make observations towards ELG's etc. Does anybody use it in their setting? Heard any good reviews? What do you think? Does it work? Or just a bit to 'techy'?
