Lesson Obs

Hi I am being observed by my head teacher and another head who is OFSTED trained. The idea being that she can support him in his judgements. I teach Reception and have 30 children - 23 boys!! We will be doing some work linked to Harry and the Robots and whilst I have lots of ideas re enhancements and challenges in the Continuos Provision I am undecided whether or not to do a 'whole class teaching input'. I feel that this and an explanation of challenges will mean that they will be sitting for too long. I will have a focus task aimed at specific children. Please let me know what you think- Thanks

Has anyone any experience of the KRM programme being used for teaching phonics and reading in Reception classes. If you have could you give a quick account of what it is, how it works and results please. That would be really great, thanks for your help!

Hello all I had a meeting with our new head and surprise surprise she does not like any of out induction materials! I was just wondering if any one sent home an information book for parents and children to share e.g. includes school times, uniform, day to day routines ( I suppose a more thinned down version of the prospectus) and if anyone sends home a little activity book e.g. fill in fav book, brothers and sisters and special friends etc... she said our looked dated- there is just no point arguing so if any body has anything they would be willing to share I would be very grateful. Thanks, i think i might just give up

Hello all, I haven't posted before but could really do with some help in my rather specific situation... I have an interview on Friday for a teaching post in a school where I completed my last teaching practice. As they know my teaching style well, they are only asking me to do the actual interview panel part with the head, deputy and governors. The position could be FS or Y1/2, I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas what sort of questions they might ask? I've been asked to take some literacy and numeracy 'work' - going to cover myself by taking some of my own and some children's! Any ideas would be gratefully received! Love the forum - thanks again to eve…

Shopping Lesson Observation

I have an interview on Monday and need to plan an activity lasting 20minutes on the theme of shopping for a reception class of 30 children. I have been told I have the use of an IWB so I think I MUST use it - have found a coin counting web page on another thread which I think would be useful. But any suggestions for grabbing their attention would be great any rhymes or songs also useful.

Hi everyone I have an interview on Friday and have been asked to do the following, any thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated! I have to plan an Act of Worship and have been given the floowing information "The Act of Worship will be on the theme of Pentecost and you will be asked to plan it jointly with two other candidates for approximately 30 children from reception and year 1. Please bring with you any resources you would like to use and let us know if there is anything you require". And "We would like you to prepare a 5 minute presentation, demonstrating your knowledge of EYFS, without the use of ICT" I am thinking of basing the presentation arou…

Hi, I hope you are all weel and I am also hoping (maybe cheekily) that all you lovely people will be able to help me and give me some good ideas. I am a reception teacher and I am expecting my first child, due in September. My school had advertised for my maternity cover, which will start in September and the head has shortlisted 5 candidates for the selection process. I have not been involved up to now in any of the process apart from meeting potential candidates when they have looked round the school, although I have expressed a desire to be involved, especially as I will be returning back after a year to my job and working with a job share, potentially with th…
