Hi all, I have a child in my class who has recently arrived from another school. She has scored on the 1st percentile for all areas of learning and needs 1-1 help to learn (which she doesn't have very much of at the moment). She is operating at a 22mth-36month level and a 2 word level of understanding. She has very little grasp of any basic concepts colours, shapes, positional language the list goes on. We are really struggling to help her to learn. We have the EP and the C and I team, school advisory team and paediatrician involved. I think it may well be that she will go to a special school (she already goes to outreach) recent meetings have suggested this but in the …

Hi all, I am a new reception class teacher and loving my new job, however the system in place is to photocopy weekly sounds and action with a few tricky works or hwf to learn at home. This process is very time consuming and there must be an easier way. Can anyone suggest or share an idea that works for them in their school? Many thanks Dominica

Magic Travel Machine

Hi All, I'm after some inspiration! Our theme at the moment is 'Journeys' (linked in with KS1). We have talked about where the children would like to go on a journey and different sorts of transport. We have also started learning a lovely song called 'The Magic Travel Machine' (Singup). I have some large cardboard boxes to make one but I'm trying to think of an exciting way to get started! The children are very into superheroes so I was thinking about a letter from an imaginary superhero who can't fly any more and needs a way of getting around the world? He could ask the children to build him a machine which he could use at night and they could play with during the…

Hello everyone, I was just after some ideas and advice, I have had a total mind blank. Currently my reception class are completing a topic called "The only way is up!" the children have shown a huge interest in hot air balloons and so we have a hot air balloon role play area, made paper mache hot air balloons etc.... and next week we are going on our first adventure in our hot air balloon. Music For Movement- Growth
by Guest- 6 replies

Hi everyone! I'm looking forward to the summer term (minus the report writing!) and am hoping to do some creative dance with my Nursery/ Reception class shortly relating to growth of plants from seed to plant, you know the type of thing, curl up in a ball and grow, sun shining, rain falling, bees buzzing etc... I was hoping someone had done this before and might be able to suggest some suitable music (maybe a poem?) or knows of any websites which suggests music for dance in a range of themes. I've tried googling already without much luck and thought someone out there might know. Thank you!
