Hi there! I am new to this, so my first hope is that people can actually see what I have written I am in reception and have been asked by my head to put key questions which can be used by parents/ TA's in the outdoor area. I wonder, is there a difinitive list that anyone has that I could have a copy of? I think I am sorted for PSRN but am perplexed about the other areas. Thank you Emalee

Hi all, After half term I am thinking of doing Traditional stories in my reception class. This is mainly because I realised that not many of my children know or have even heard of any of the traditional stories such as 3 little pigs, red riding hood, 3 billy goats gruff, etc (same with Nursery rhymes, but this is another matter!). My problem is though, that I am very much for planning from the children's interests and involving them in the planning stage and I'm aware that this topic isn't one that the children would naturally be interested in or initiate themselves. So I guess my questions are- do any of you do traditional tales as a topic/theme? If so, …

Fitting It All In

Hi, I am looking for some advise as yet again I am reworking my timetable. I have to fit in the following, maths everyday at a set time, as a child from another class joins, two ELS groups, a maths intervention group, and a speech and language group. I have just planned it , so my TA takes all the intervention groups in the afternoon, which would leave me to run an adult initiated activity then, plus observe.During the mornings we are both in class, and have numeracy and literacy, in which one of us will be supporting at least one group. Luckily I have two parent helpers, so they hear the children read once and change library books, but I still need to fit in two m…

Firstly sorry for the ramble, but I have got my knickers in a twist... I have a job interview next week it's in a different authority at the opposite end of the country! There will be an interview, and also I have to do a presentation and teach a group. The group of 15 children are reception age, it is for 20 mins. I am in a bit of a panic about the teaching bit, and I just need someone to talk sense to me. I have got a good starting activity with a puppet (that relates to a book I plan on reading). My dilemma is the book is pretty much a story based around counting. However the presentation has to be around language development, should I scrap my original ide…

Hi, wondered if anyone could give me some ideas for a writing observation in Reception in two weeks. Our frogspawn has just arrived so thought I could theme it around the frogspawn and hopefully tadpoles by then and also link activities to Spring. I have 'the teeny weeny tadpole' book but I am looking for exciting writing activities for my focus groups! I have a wide range of abilities from chn recognising and matching and just about writing initial sounds to some who are confident at 2 to 3 independent sentences. Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Hi! Has anyone done a topic on Toy Story before? My class are really into the characters at the moment and I thought it might be a worthy topic idea for after Easter. Trouble is I haven't seen the most recent movie myself. Guess I'll be watching it during the hols. I thought we might be able to do a bit of drama and discuss moveable parts such as slinky and clockwork mice but that's as far as I have got. Any ideas gratefully received. x
