Milk For Under 5s
by Guest- 7 replies

Please can someone confirm whether it is statutory to offer milk to children under 5. We don't seem to be able to get a straight forward answer! At the moment we have milk delivered by a 'free' milk scheme but it is only for children under 5. Once they reach their 5th birthday they are no longer entitled to have it. This is quite tricky in a class of mixed 4 and 5 year olds. So, we offer the milk every morning to all our 4 year olds but most of them do not drink it and it is wasted. Now the scheme are asking the school to pay for the milk. We would rather stop altogether but not sure if we can. We have been told it is statutory. Any advice would be appreciated. Th…

I am getting observed for my performance management next Tuesday and the focus is the outdoors. I have never had an outdoors observation therefore don't really know what they will be looking for! Will they look to see how I interact with the children outside and observe them as they play? Anyone who can help I would be very grateful! Sian

I'd be really grateful if anyone has anything they could share with me please. I've got some ideas but would be grateful for any help! Many thanks in advance of your help!

Hi I am about to make an ICT skills assessment sheet for my reception children to send home to parents to ask what the children are capable of at home. Before I do this I was wondering if anyone has made one or know where I can find one? I am aware of what the children do in school but when I watch my nearly 3 year old grand son select a DVd,put it in the machine, turn the machine on with the remote control and select the scene and turn up the volume...I thought there is a whole world of ICT the children will be experts at that the parents could help us with eg children answering the telephone, using camera,Cd,wii ,being aware of programmable devices in the home eg wa…

Developmental Bands/age Appropriate

If a child is working in the 40-60+ at this point in reception then they are age appropriate? However, if that is so does this mean that they must be 6+ at the end of reception? e.g. if i say a child is age appropriate now in March but they do not them get 6+ does this then mean they are now no longer age appropriate? I am all confused!!!!!!!!!!! My head wants figures but there are a good number who will not get 6 esp in CLL so can i say at this point they are age appropriate if they are working on stands with in the 40-60+ Does this make sense, I am really confused Hope someone can help thanks Natasha

our theme at the moment has become 'water', having talked about water and done our themed 'spider diagram' of what we know and want to find out the children have come up with lotsof questions about where does water come from and where does it go e.g. when it goes down the drain - then what? has anyone got any good ideas for this, i'm a little stuck, or any ideas I can introduce during this topic that perhaps they won't have thought of? have thought of saving water, how we use water around the home.
