Hi Im was very unsure about how to title this question!! I am wondering if anyone has seen any documentation about Reception chn coming into sch in the mornings. It has been suggested that they must have their own separate door to the rest of the sch, or must be their classroom door and they must be greeted by the class teacher. Has anyone heard that or seen it in any document? I have googled it but got lost in all the links - while having no success. Our class come in a door adjacent to our class. They are greeted by a site team member, I greet them in class. I cannot leave the class to go to the other door as my LSAs are not not always at sch when the chn start.…

Anyone got ideas for my outside shed role play area. Inside will be a chinese restaurant, as want to be able to model it, and think there are more adults available to capture language. Could I do the same role play in the outside shed, or I was thinking of a kite making workshop, or a maths tangram making area..... ANy good ideas out there. ALSO: I have a book cleversticks, about a CHinese boy starting school and doesn't feel good at anything until he realizes he is the only one who can use chop sticks......anyone got any other good books.

Development Matters Statements

Hi I have a little dot of a girl in my Reception class who is working at about 20mths developmentally. I have a document with the DM statements for 30-60mths but am in need of a word document (or another file!) of the development matters statements from birth to 60 mths for her. Does anyone know where I can find this? She has a 1:1 LSA who has just come from a Yr6 class and has no idea of the statements and it would be great if she could have a copy in front of her. Any ideas on how to train her up asap would be great too! :-) Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi all, I am busy planning for after half term and will be doing a superhero theme in response to my Ben 10 mad boys. I have loads of ideas and have found lots of ideas from trawling previous posts (thanks folks!) . Where I'm struggling is that I'd like to have some female role models and am struggling for texts. I have bought Super Daisy by Nick Sharratt but does anyone know any others? Obviously once we get going, the children will be making up their own personas and costumes etc and that is non gender specific but I wanted to be able to read stories with a range of superheros. Also I wondered if anyone has done this theme what visitors or trips you organised for the…

HI PLEASE can anyone help. I am being pushed to implement AFL in my mixed YR/Y1 class (only 7 summer born Y1s) and I really don't see how to do it and no one in my school can help. I have implemented Talk Partners at carpet time but most of the children are too young to do this properly (12 chn are still 4) and the others get quite frustrated! I can't use talk partners for self assessment as they are not doing the same level of work. I could just use talk partners with the 7 Y1s but they won't have much variety! I also have to do Big Writing with the 7 Y1s while the others are playing! Any suggestions welcome Thanks Julescc x

Under what developmental matter statement would you assess how a child follows instructions? This child is a native English speaker. An activity (e.g. Snakes and Ladders or using the bee-bot) can have been modeled or even executed by other classmates in front of him and, when it would be his turn, he would be completely lost. Yet, he is able to remember a story and sequence events.

Hello, Im struggling with where to find resources for the outside learning environment. We need to develop the role play area with panels or similar, im also thinking about seating/quiet areas, storage, large construction, maths and literacy bits for outside. To be honest the list is endless. Does anyone have any good suggestions? I have been looking through the GLS, KCS, and YPO catalogues so far. Thanks

Hello lovely people, Happy New Year! My class of mixed Nursery/Reception children have been voting for the new roleplay area, the winner being a 'Superhero School'! I was wondering whether anyone would be willing to share any good ideas to develop the curriculum with this as I'm very scared the boys will just dress up and race around the sizeable setting we have like they did before when the spiderman costume was in the dressing up box! Has anyone had anything similar in their room which worked well? We've already talked about what happens in a school and that the we aren't superheroes yet and that we will be 'learning' the skills they have. I've asked the chi…

I need to teach money this week with my Reception class - we haven't really covered this at all yet, except for incidentally with role play. Our theme at the moment is 'Jack and the Beanstalk' and I was thinking of relating it to the giant's coins. We need to do something on recognition. I'm lacking inspiration though, wondered if anyone had any good ideas??
