Do You Limit The Number Of Children Outdoors ?
by Guest Pebble123- 7 replies

We have free flow but find that most children want to be outdoors, so sometimes end up with 20+ children outside. The area is just about big enough to cope but that means they are not accessing the lovely activities inside ! Is it ok to either say which groups are inside or outside or have a system whereby only say 10 children can go out at a time. Or does this go against child initiated play if yoy are restricting them ? Thanks !

Hi. I am very lucky (I think, ummmmm not so sure now!) that I have a design and technology lead teacher coming to work with the children for about 5 weeks, 1 morning per week. She has never done anything with reception before (thought she was coming to work with yr5/6 s she teaches KS4) and has asked for some ideas. I thought it would be nice to do something that the children can work on over these weeks that will be ready for christmas - but Im struggling to think of something really. She is only going to work with small groups at a time - which is good obviously because that means they will have good support. But I really am not sure. Any ideas at all gra…

Cip In Year One
by Guest- 3 replies

Does anyone know specifically what percentage of the timetable should be CIP for year one and where I may find guidance on this? I remember being advised on a course a few years ago to make it 50/50 ai/ci for the first term but it would be really useful to be able to confirm this and source it! Many thanks

WHEN HAVING SHARED CLL TIME WITH THE WHOLE CLASS IN RECEPTION WHAT DO YOU ALL DO??????????? TO BEGIN WITH WE TEND TO JUST DO PHASE 1/2 ACTIVITIES DEPENDING ON CHILDREN'S NEEDS. HOWEVER, WE DO NOT THEN FOLLOW ON WITH READING/ SHARING A BIG BOOK FOCUS. WE TEND TO JUST READ AND DISCUSS LOTS OF STORIES SO REALLY OUR ONLY FOCUSED WORK IS PHONICS BASED AT SHARED CARPET TIMES AND WE DO IT EVERY DAY. WE DO DO GUIDED/SHARED READING EACH WEEK BUT WE DO NOT HAVE A BIG BOOK OF THE WEEK! WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF YOU?? AM I ON THE RIGHT TRACK OR WAY OFF?? THANKS FOR HELPING

Hi there, I wonder if anyone can help me. I work in F2 and have been asked to do a risk assessment for our outside provision and am struggling to come up with something I am happy/comfortable with. Should I do a daily risk assessment, which seems like another thing to remember to do!!!or do I write a blanket one and get all staff to sign it? I look forward to any suggestions

21? Areas Of Learning

Hi everyone. This is my first post on the website, so sorry if this has been mentioned before. I was in a meeting recently and an LEA advisor mentioned 'the 21 areas of learning' when disucussing activity areas in the classroom. I obviously know about the 6 areas, but believe she was talking about sand area, construction etc. Therefore, does anyone know where I could get hold of a list of these areas to make sure they are all available in our Foundation Area. Thanks, Clare.
