So, does anyone have a timetable or example they could share with me that shows how it is possible to run CI time with adults observing and interacting with the children at a separate time to adult focus/ led activities going on. At times it is just me in Reception, also complicated by the fact that I share my class space with our school Nursery. I am finding this idea quite hard to get my head around, as I have said at times there is only me with Reception. I'm thinking children come in and start on the shared activites there are out, then we get ready for assembly/ register etc. Then have whole class input, sometimes small groups go with my TA (depending on whe…

First Few Weeks Assessment
by Guest- 9 replies
- 1.4k views
Hi - just wondering how people organise initial assessmernt in first few weeks. I will have learning journeys for 20 chn who attended our nursery, but have nothing on the other 10 chn joining in reception. Do you just spend lots of time observing, and make copious notes, or do you have a checklist of things to look out for linked to ELGs, such as who can count, recognise numerals, letters, what sounds they know. Anyone have a format for initial assessment I'd love to take a peek.. Getting excited - but just realised how much I still have to do as an NQT... Tks.

Dissertation Topic On Circle Time
by Guest- 8 replies

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for a dissertation question based on Circle time? I have read a lot around the positive impact of circle time, however feedback from fellow practitioners is mixed as to how it is used effectively. Ideally i would like to focus my research around the children in my class and especially the ones who do not seem to enjoy circle time or want to participate, however if anyone has any ideas i would be most grateful as i need to narrow down my research to one particular aspect of 'circle time' B

Hi Everyone!! I have never posted on here before but would like a bit of advice!! I work in a foundation stage classroom in a primary school. Following our recent Ofsted we were asked to consider tracking the childrens free choice in more detail. The inspector suggested that each child should show their choices of where they have played on a didplay of some sort (hope that makes sense! ) Was wondering how others do this Thanks Chlo
