My school had the Ofsted inspectors in today and my Head put immense pressure on me by telling them that they would see an outstanding lesson in my YR class......and they didn't. It was Good but I'm left feeling deflated and miserable. They're coming back in the morning and I'm determined that they'll see something spectacular. HELP!! They were unimpressed by my spectacular outdoor garden centre role play although they appreciated that my children were doing some good independent activities. We're off on a trip to the local Garden Centre after break tomorrow so I'm trying to think of a WOW lesson that they can see before we go. My initial idea is to have a bag of 'm…

Hi, We have had our school improvement person in, who is also an Early Years specialist and used to be an Early Years advisor. She spent an hour in our unit and basically said we were set up well and everything was working as it should, which is nice to know. She advised us to ensure that there are enough 'structured play' activities provided to ensure that there is enough challenge especially for the reception children (she wasn't saying that we didn't do it just that is something OFSTED would look for). It got us thinking about the balance of child-initiated and adult-initiated play. We have organised the time so children have separate child-initiated and adult-initiat…

Hi everyone . I am a teacher trainee and I was wondering are there any great books with ideas/resources to teach foundation stage kids math. I am doing my lesson on subtraction and I am going to use a song ten green bottles but with green froggs instead now (animals topic) . I am wondering if there any other fun interactive activities I can do? And how do you teach the class with various abilities, my mentor asks TA to take out a group of AA or BA kids out and works with the rest. I want to try and keep all kids in a class but differentiate the activity by asking different type of qs . I need your experience to help me, please.

Hi there- am preparing for moderation for the profile and am wondering what others do about adult/child led evidence- we currently only record CI evidence in the childrne's profile files and don't really record small group work etc. NNs meet with their teacher to discuss outcomes from small group work but there is no formal recordng as such/ I am worried about this- any help/suggestions?

End Of Year Reports
by Guest- 3 replies

As a school we are changing the format of our end of year reports. The idea is to simplify it, as previously we had boxes for each subject and too much typing. We're planning to have tick boxes and then a general comment box. The rest of the school are planning their format, but I need to think of format for nursery and reception. If anyone has any examples of end of year reports I would be most grateful. Many thanks
