Okay, so it is my last NQT observation and I want to go out with a bang (a good one obviously). I am being observed for Numeracy and my higher ability can add, take away and share calculations and they know their shapes. I was thinking of doing problem solving with them? I also have my lower ability who with support can add and take away and know their shapes and can count to ten but do not know how to write one or two of their numbers. Then I have nursery and 3/5 recognise their numbers 1-10 and can find the correct amount of objects. Hi everyone Hope you are enjoyding the nice bit of weather we are. As some of you know I will be leading the FS in September and am just thinking about long term, medium and short term planning. This is how I see it and would love some expert feedback! Long term planning is going to based on seasons and festivals. There will be no topics as such but just picking up on the rhythm of the year. How Often Do You Do Circle Time?

Is it a definite Circle Time ie PSED based or is it a gathering that sits in a circle and covers a variety of topics? We currently do the latter mainly as our children are all new to English they struggle to talk about feelings. We gather once a day and produce an A4 planning sheet which covers a full week. I will see if I can upload it but I'm not very technical. We are begining to think that we are doing too much planning ... Circle Time, Letters and Sounds (X2) plus 4 crazy lesson plans which are very unsuitable but have to be done! Just interested in what others are doing. Thanks.

Hi everyone. I have an interview for a Reception job on Friday, and have been trying to think of what I might be asked. Has anyone got any ideas of questions I might get? Also, a few weeks ago at an interview I was asked what I thought made a good lesson in the foundation stage. I talked about giving the children opportunities to learn independently and loads of other stuff, but I didn't get the job because apparantly they wanted what Ofsted would consider a good lesson (even though they asked what I thought made a good lesson). The head recommeneded that I type it into the Ofsted website to find out more, but nothing comes up! Does anyone know anything about this? Any h…

Hi. I'm planning to do an iformative writing display to inform parent's and staff about the different stages of writing! I have guidance on the way children progress through scribble to writing sentences and will display examples of this ( whilst being aware this is general development!!!). I am a qualified teacher, but have been working in Early Years (preschool) for the last 2yrs.....I am now desperate to teach in a school setting and am currently applying for a year 1 position. I am really struggling to put down in words exactly WHY! I am trying desperately to think of reason why such a transition could be favourable to the school.....I need to set myself apart from those who have been in reception/year 1 for some time compared to me.
