Do Teach Pe?

hi We are currently debating at school whether PE should be taught remotely and quite formally (children undressing, going to a sports hall etc.) or whether or not we should allow them to progress physically during CI play and smaller focus activities. Please could you let me know how you do it? Thanks again Cathryn

We have parent interviews in the Aut and Spring terms and then reports in the summer. I would like to come up with a proforma to discuss with parents and then send home for their views on their child's progress, are you pleased with your child's progress, what do they like doing best at school/home, changes in likes/dislikes etc. Does anyone have something they use? I wondered if I should summarise where their child is in some way - perhaps just which age range of the development matters they are working on? Or is it just enough to talk through the profile?? I want to keep them informed but not to generate too much extra work. I thought the form could then go in the journ…

Hi I am currently in the throws of preparing for a interview to lead the foundation stage at school. I have been out of teaching a while but the head has invited me to apply for this post as she says she really values my practice. I was a leader before I left to have children but am a little nervous!!! However, to be totally prepared for my interview I would like to compile some documents to share. I have written an EYFS policy and would like to show the bones of a document that is for parents and will explain how they can support their children at home in CLL and PSRN. If anyone has any ideas for me to add to this please share them with me. I would be most grate…

Ready For App?
by Guest- 24 replies

Hi, After having an APP Writing moderation staff meeting it was suggested that those children in Reception that are achieving within level 1 on the writing APP grid should be moved onto this by me when they are ready- most likely in the summer term. What do you lovely people think? It came about as I took a piece of independent writing by a girl achieving scale point 8 and all preceeding scale points, with several pieces of evidence, it was better than the lower level 1 from Year 1. Thanks

Sorry if I've asked similar elsewhere - but can't seem to fnd out what Ineed to know I'm sure you'll all help please - even if it's a 'yes we do' or 'no we dont', please answer! In our reception classes we split each day into adult guided and child-initiated time. During adult guided time I have a session of CLL and a session of PSRN. While literacy and numeracy are the main focus we incorporate the other areas into the activities. For example - In a PSRN session, we have one or two objectives (perhaps based on Early Learning Goals). I start by sharing an activity with the whole class for about 5 to 10 minutes (introducing the objective and modelling one …

Hi After Easter I have a new intake of children starting in F1, 17 children are joining my existing 19. Obviously I don't know the new chidlren that well yet so can't plan from their interests. I thought I would start off the first week by basing the learning around a good picture book before we all sit down and discuss what we want to learn about. I have been racking my brains for a good picture book and keep coming up with the usual suspects; The Gruffalo, We're going on a bear hunt, to name a couple. So I ask you guys, if you could choose any book to do a mini topic on for a week, what would it be?

Hi all, I just found out that I will be getting a group of nursery children (8 of the oldest ones) in my reception class after Easter and I've gone into the usual panic mode! I'm only just getting my head around teaching Reception (as it was all new and scary to me back in September!) and now I'm worried how to manage giving time appropriately to the nursery group as well. They will only be in mornings til 11.30am so I'm wondering how to: a. sort out my timetable- I have been doing predominantly literacy/ numeracy based activities in the mornings with topic stuff in the afternoons. b. how to manage going home/ wrappping up the morning for these chil…
