Hi, What is your understanding of the statement 'Use talk to connect ideas'. Could anyone give me examples of what they might hear a child say who is demonstrating that they can do this? Thanks Green Hippo x

Hi everyone, I do appologise in advance. I have already placed this post on the forum, but I think it was under the wrong section hense why I might not have had a reply. I am hoping someone can help me. I am getting ready for interviews for a NQT and am applying for both reception and KS1 posts. I am expected to teach a class as part of the interview process and wondering if anyone has got any fantastic ideas of what I can teach. I was thinking of basing it on a good story but wanted the children to be active too. Any suggestions very gratefully received. Thanks Hankie27

Hi everyone, I was just wondering 3 things. How often do you observe the children in your class per week? Do your TAs observe and record for you? Does anyone have a good proforma you use when observing that has all the scale points on and room for notes? Thank you all xxx

Sending A Camera Home

As part of our all about me/good to be me theme I would like to give the chn a camera to take home to take photos of specific things at home. I know some schools have sent home disposable cameras for each child but has anyone used a 'real' camera? Can anyone who has experienced either please let me know the positivies/negatives? Have a 'chunk' of money to use and not sure what the best way forward is.

Hi, For our parents afternoon I have to complete a mini report which includes a general comment about the child then has a space for achievements, a space for targets and a space titled 'Further action'. We read through them with the parents and ask them to sign them. Previously, I have filled out the 'targets' as next steps for the children, however, there is only room for 3 or at a push 4 and have omitted the achievements section as I feel that their learning journal covers this (which we share at the parents afternoon and at regular intervals throughout the year and in response to parental requests). However, I feel that I would like to fill out the achievements sec…

Class Bear

I want to set it up so that our class bear goes home and visits the children for weekends/holidays/special occassions. Just wondering how other people have done this and also how they have explained it to parents. I'd like to encourage the children to write a diary or something. If you do this what do you expect of children/parents- I don't want parents to freak out! I want it to be a really useful and motivating experience for all concerned! Thanks x
