Sorry if this has already been asked somewhere else, I'm still learning to find my way around the site! I've been trying to pluck up the courage to ask this possibly stupid question but the whole issue of writing observations is driving me mad and making me really unhappy because I'm constantly worried about it. I'm new to Reception and am finding it very hard to get my head around the whole foundation approach (I'm teaching in Wales having moved from England but find it's the same principle as the foundation stage in England) I've only moved from Year 1 and 2 but am still finding it a culture shock doing what I feel is nearly every subject at once. Hi Can anyone please help me! I teach a mixed class 7 summer born Year 1 children who have to cover the same work as the other Year 1 and 2 children in another class and 17 Reception children and I am struggling to organise the day. I have to teach separate subject lessons to cover all the year 1 work which means there is a lot of carpet time and not enough CI. I also struggle with spending time with the children during Ci doing observations etc as I seem to always have to be supporting Year 1s. Also I am being told that part of every lesson should be outside which I do if I'm being observed but the rest of the time childdren are only outside during CI time. so wou;l…

Please, please can you share with me how you organise your day...I feel like I'm doing everything wrong and would really like to find out how other people organise their days. Do you leave the children to have 'free choice' all day every day, with a few activities set out for them to go to 'if they want'? Do you have the children in groups and they have to go to complete certain tasks and then rotate? I have a mix of both but I feel that i am far too disorganised at the mo and am beginning to stress. I work in a small village school and we have 16 children in reception and two staff. I am struggling with having to implement and explain to parents about key workers. My TA and I have a group each for planning and I think of this as our home or key worker groups but when I explain this to parents I feel I have to say that I am responsible for all the children and also that both of us should observe all the children. I can't find anything meaningful in the idea of each of us being a 'key worker'. Does anyone else have this problem and have you come up with anything? Anne

Hi there, does anyone have a lesson observation planning format that they use to plan their lesson when being observed by their head, that is specifically for Foundation Stage?
