Hi, Please can anyone help with how you manage ' individual next steps for learning'. What do you use to record these next steps, how often do you plan the next steps - is it termly? What, when and how ... any help greatly appreciated as we need to develop this and make it clearer as to how we are identifying and planning for children's next steps. Thanks.

Good Phonics Ict Program?
by Guest- 9 replies

Please help! We use cued articulation to teach phonics from phase two and most aspects of this work brilliantly. However, for visual learners it can be a bit dry and we have been using Education City to support our teaching. The school can no longer afford the site license and we are looking for another ICT phonics program that is really good. We don't want to invest money in something that is not so good. Any suggestions?

Dear all, I have a child who is 4 years old and will stay with our nursery until he is 5 (September 2010). He is advance for this age in all areas but lacks in PSE. I am trying to put together a list of new, exiciting and challenging activities so he doesn't get bored during the day (he is with us for a total of 36 hours over 4 days). Any suggestions......

Hello I have been in reception for a number of years but was on mat leave during the whole EYFS implementation. I have read the documents cover to cover but never went on EYFS training. Therefore I have gaps which I would love it if people could help fill! Or just let me know if I am correct; 1) Do I have to have Medium Term Planning or can I just plan straight to weekly plan from the children's interests? 2) I have set whole class sessions which I plan for (about 3 per day) - these are planned the week before and are set for the following week 3) I have 45 children in the class (2 teachers, 2 nursery nurses) - Do i need focused activities each day? I usually have the…

Creative Development Point 3
by Guest- 2 replies

I need a bit of advice really. What kind/type of evidence would you expect children to display before awarding them FSP point 3 in creative development. I'm sure that I am expecting to much and am finding it difficult to award this point e.g - One boy will often build rockets & boats with the large blocks, make trains by lining up the chairs and take part in role play- shopkeeper, taking on role of daddy & superheroes, etc. But rarely paint and would never chose to dance during CI play but enjoys taking part in sticky kids movement and music activities-Thanks for any advice.

Police Activities

Hi Everyone, I really need some inspiration!!! Last week I observed a large number of children playing lots of 'cops & robber' type games. As a result this week I've focussed my activities around the police theme. We've had a police role-play outdoors, the children have dressed up in police costumes, made 'Wanted' posters, used internet & non-fiction books to find out about the role of a police officer (tried to get community police to come into school but to no avail!!! ), looked at finger prints and took our own finger prints. The children have really enjoyed it and appear to be interested to carry it on next week. I just really don't know what to do next???? …

Hi all, just started to introduce some of my reception class to guided reading. But was looking for some kind of advice on how you record and assess each child. Am i right in thinking that we should have some kind of ticky box as to show which word each child self corrected, or used picture cue to help. I'm listening to mine at the mo but not really recording anything systematically. Any help and advice would be really appreciated xxxxxx thanks heaps xxxx Misspink
