hELLO YOU LOVELY PEOPLE!! I need a bit of help I have been look at the forum posts but could not find anything relating to tracking across FS1 and FS2 How are you all doing it out there? what sort of form does it take? At the moment we have a table that is filled in each term with the months 40-60 for example, the tricky bit it marrying these up to ther 13 scale points in FS2 if a child is secure in 40-60 in Nursery should we begin using the profile to assess? Any formats that stretch over the 2 years would be a great inspiration Thank you

Outdoor Planning

As it looks as if this bitterly cold weather is with us for the next few weeks, I wonder if anyone has any ideas for outdoor activities that will keep children actively involved. I'm suffering brain freeze at the moment and can't think much beyond wheeled vehicles and observing the frost! I would love to build up a resource of ideas

Planning For Literacy And Numeracy
by Guest- 2 replies
Hi there, Haven't posted for ages!, so here it goes.... We have a Medium term plan and short term, but are finding that Literacy and Numeracy are needing plans for themselves for upfront activities, not to mention RE planning. Does everyone else have this many planning sheets? The Numeracy and Literacy are so specific it cant go on weekly short term plan. Also as we use the Key Worker system Literacy and Numeracy plans are needed for Key workers to work from for upfront differentiated activities. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, feel like we spend so much time planning! Driving me mad.

Look, Listen And Note Sheets
by Guest- 9 replies

Hi all, Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!! We are going to be using the 'Look, Listen and Note' sheets during child-initiated time in our Foundation Stage Unit. Other schools in our town find them really useful for assessment and next steps for planning/learning. Probably a strange question but does anyone know if the adult observing completes a sheet for each child or is it a sheet where you add notes on all children in the 6 areas of learning? Brownie xx

Hey guys, Just wondered if you had any inspiring ideas. I have another observation looming and it is planned for St Patricks Day. As a reception teacher I feel that my focus for that day should be the celebration but I have to make the lesson focus about writing. Any ideas???? Im really stuck. I know that it's in advance but just want to be prepared. Really appreciate it. Merry Christmas! x

Does anyone know of any great sites that help you with success criteria in reception class or in numeracy or literacy in general. I am an nqt and trying to develop this in my classroom but I get so far and then feel like I have ran backwards. At the moment I have sorted out a writing success criteria using pictures which the children use in self assessing their own work and HA/GT go on to peer assess. What are other people doing and does some one have the magical site or words of advice to help me start moving forward again????

Talk And Assessment
by Guest- 0 replies

Does anyone know of any government documents related to how talk can be used as a way to assess children's thinking? I've looked into the PNS Strands for Literacy and Mathematics, as well as Excellence & Enjoyment. 'Assessment, talk and guided group work' (CPD for years 2, 3 and 4 teachers) on the Standards site also popped up in my searches. Any help is appreciated! Mary
