Hi, I have changed schools this year and my team still can't come to a decision whether to use themes to hang our planning on, as in medium-term plan or just do it weekly following the change in the children's preferences. This is not only about cnild-initiated activities but adult-led as well. I am getting quite frustrated with not knowing which is the right way. Thanks.

Hi everyone, I am sure we have all been in that place when you come to your weekly sticking in and reviewing the observations you have made and some children have got lots of observations and some have got none. Has anyone worked out a way to solve / track this? Would also love to know what people are capturing for thier observations in PD and KUW - I never seem to have as many observations as I would expect in these areas. Thanks in advance for your replies XXX

Hi, We've been asked to mark children's work with next steps for writing and refer to the EYFS. However the profile points are too wide and the steps needed too great to be "next steps". Would anyone have a prompt list of smaller achievable steps that i could use when marking please. They need to be "Iwill try to..... " statements. Everything I've read so far seems to be about what the adult will do in terms of provision eg. provide ops. for mark-making in role-play etc Sorry if I'm being dim but I'm new to all this copming from KS2 and didn't expect to be doing formal recorded writing until later in the year unless they were ready, now i've got to do some "writ…

Hi i have a literacy lesson observation as part of my NQT. I am going to look at Rhyming CVC words. I was wondering if anyone has any 1. Adult directed ideas and 2. Any independant activities relating to CVC words the children could dpo through their play. I have some ideas but wondered what your thoughts were. I was going to start by reading a phonics book e.g 'The fat Cat Sat on the MAt' but I am a bit stumped about what to do after this. Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi, I am wondering if anyone could help me. As a school we are currently looking at how year 1 are assessed and against which objectives, obviously lit and num and national curriculum. Only these are very broad and we were thinking that if you had something a little similar to flying start 2 and the profile with broken down statements, it would show progression and give step by step assessment. We are currently working in a team of two reception classes and a mixed year 1/reception. Has anyone adapted their year 1 assessments and would you mind sharing?! Thanks sooooo much!!
